I just wanted to share a tire size victory. Somewhere on here, (lost bookmark, can't find it using search), I read that a 33" tire on a 16x8 with +0 offset wouldn't rub for a second gen. Some argued and said that it would, but I got lucky I guess.

I wanted to add an important piece to the puzzle. I just got an alignment check, and the caster is at 1.9degrees. The wheels definitely can't go any further forward. Measurements next to photos.

I did just put Bilstein 6112's up front, so it's on a 2" lift, but just eyeballing it, I don't think it would matter. I put a jack under the LCA with the wheel turned each direction and I don't see any places that would cause issues when flexed. I ran it up on ramps one tire at a time, with the wheels turned also, and no issues. I did have to remove the tiny mudflaps in front of the front tires. (Ripped the other 4 off a while back first time offroading).

    285/75/16 BFG K02, brand new, with Level 8 MK6 16x8 +0 rims

Photo 1) Wheels straight, in front of front passenger tire. about 2" clearance
Photo 2) Wheels turned left, in front of front passenger tire. about 5/8" clearance
Photo 3) Wheels straight, behind front passenger tire. 2 3/8" clearance
Photo 4) Wheels turned right, behind front passenger tire. 7/8" clearance (this is typically the location that causes the cab mount chop (CMC) to be needed)

If anyone needs any other measurements let me know and i'll try and get them.
No aftermarket upper control arms. Camber is sitting at 0.5/0.2

No action shots with the larger tires yet. First trip is in a couple of weeks, but here are a few from the house.

Well. Finally got it to rub on the passengers side, in hard reverse, at full lock, with it bouncing and stuffing up inside a little. Just the plastic though, and it's pretty light.

I have same year truck and looking at putting same tires on mine but I’ve got 5100’s in front and back. Both on stock springs but front set at 1.75. Think they would rub? Currently running 265’s but def want that 285

Sorry for the slow response, I've been traveling.

If you're willing to fine tune the caster to get the tire pushed far enough forward in the wheel well, but not too far, and use the same rim width and offset, then I would say you have a pretty good chance to clear. Mudflaps, and the little half mudflaps will have to go, and you may need to trim the wheel well liner (I took mine out but can't remember why now, I think it might have been while reversing, turning, and leaning to the side that it rubbed). If you do the alignment at home it will honestly probably save time compared to wrestling with a shop to get the caster right. I had to learn how to do it once we put 285's on my wifes 4runner. It's not too hard once you make a few simple tools/straightedges/angles and have read through the diy guide a few times.

I've taken that setup through some decent flexing and didn't have any issues. However, once I removed my sway bar to fit a particular skid plate and replaced the front bump stops with sumo springs I now have to trim the fender flare and beat in the pinch weld due to the increased up travel. I consistently rub the pinch weld and have popped the front part of the fender flare off several times.

I've also completely removed the front bumper and swapped it for a winch bumper kit and have much more forward clearance now, I may try increasing the caster angle more before I get too crazy on the pinch weld.

Apparently I didn't take many photos last trip, but you can see the extra clearance in front now, this also explains why I won't really be able to take any measurements anymore lol. It's not the same setup as 3 years ago. IMG_6360.HEIC.jpg
