hey yall- i have a 00 2.7L that was deemed totaled as a parts truck for my 00 3.4L - i planned to swap out the doors cuz my auto windows/door panels/speakers are all broken on the 3.4 and i miss my old school crank windows..but can’t seem to find too much on it- i’m prepared to spend a whole weekend swapping them but wanted some info before trying at it cuz it’s my daily.. kinda need my doors

I recently swapped a door, it's pretty easy. From inside the cab by your feet you can get to the single plug that connects to the door - in my case just a speaker, but your 3.4L is fancier, however, it's likely still just a single plug. Using a ratcheting spanner you can unbolt the hinge bolts. I left the hinges on the door since my replacement door had them already. From there I disassembled and transferred everything to the new door, but it sounds like you wouldn't have to do any of that!

Door alignment is done by loosening the hinge bolts, adjusting, and tightening. I found that the latch side didn't have any adjustability like some vehicles.

Getting the door aligned can be a bit annoying. I loosened the hinge bolts, used a jack with a piece of wood on it to jack the (open) door up, tightened the bolts, and then closed the door to test fitment. Rinse and repeat quite a few times until I was happy with it. It's not perfect, but it's possible my cab is bent out.

I put on a door once by myself

    NEVER again.
It was a 74 ford Torino wagon with a 2000lb door!

get a buddy over for a 12pack to help hold/align door while you tighten/loosen to your liking
