There have been a number of posts from people describing problems with rough shifting, clunks, etc. There were a lot of suggestions about U-joints, slip yokes, transmission fluid etc. Has anyone ever fixed the problem?

I've had mine to the dealer a couple of times, but they can't replicate the problem, so everything is normal to them. In my case, there's a hard shift between 1-2 or 2-3 when it's cold and once in a while just randomly when it's warm. It's almost like a kick.

    Thanks.

I noticed mine started clunking when I'd drop it out of OD for a hill and sometimes when manually placing it back into OD. It didn't feel like driveline to me, def the tranny. In my case I was replacing the ujoints and carrier brg anyway and that didn't help that issue. What helped mine (150K on the fluid) was servicing it, dropped the tranny pan installed a new filter and cycled in all new WS fluid, 13qts. It fixed the clunk I described (at least for now) but the tranny still has some minor torque converter shudder so it didn't help everything.

Youre in the 2nd gen forum, but don't mention the year/driveline or mileage of your truck. Additionally trans service history and how you typically use the truck might help others help you.

Thanks. 2015 6cyl. New to me this winter with 112k miles. Notice the hard shift several weeks in when it was cold. If I warmed it up before driving, there was usually no problem, but sometimes a kick. I took it to the dealer twice but they couldn’t replicate the problem. They inspected the drive train and said it looks good and recommended a flush, which they did, but it didn’t really make difference.

It’s mostly gone away with the warm weather, but it does kick once in a while.

    Thanks.

just a couple of things tbh
honestly i dont have a hard shift thou... mine will down shift on a hill and i will lose power like somehow a massive trailer just got hooked up to it... once its on flat ground or over the hill the truck will take a few mins and will shift and act normally again. unless it was from a start on a hill then the trans feels like a slush box the rest of the time.
