Was riding in parents truck driving down the highway in a storm and lightning struck the antenna and took out the radio. So, yes if that qualifies. Scary af.

We had a neighbor who was renting the house above us who was struck by lightning 3 times in his life and lived to tell the tale.

    :woot::woot:

Never been first! I’m humbled and honored by the recognition :hattip:

    The obligatory story:

I was living in an attic level apartment of a three story house in Gloucester MA located on Portuguese Hill (I don’t know it that’s a pejorative and I mean no disrespect). It was about mid way up the hill with a telephone pole and transformer, maybe a bit higher, level about 30 yards away from a small landing for outside stairs. North side of the house.

We had partial views of Glousta Hahbah (local pronunciation, please let me know if you need translation) while standing on this landing and I thought it would be an excellent spot to watch a storm roll in across said hahbah.

The view watching the clouds roll in and rain coming closer was spectacular up to the lightning strike on the previously mentioned transformah.

The hair on the left side of my head and left arm was raised for about 10 minutes and the ringing in my left ear lasted for quite awhile. I didn’t see the initial hit but a couple of the following flashes.. It was like looking at the sun for a flash.

Fun times from my young adulthood

Well if I could stay on it and still make money I would.
The insurance benefits are outstanding and I need to get the house paid for. And pad my retirement accounts.

@StayinStock I need to add this gently used headlight assembly (bulbs not included) to the prize wharehowse. It came off of a 2003 Honda Civic but with some duct tape and super glue (also not included) the possibilities are endless on what it’ll actually fit.

I’ll keep it here where we store all of our other valuables until you do the biweekly pickup.

    Bonus story:

Had a small cottage near the coast north shore MA. No storms, just gray cloudy day. Lightning strike hit near the cottage that seemed very close but no apparent damage. Found out the circuit board was burned out on an older garage door opened. Just a small hole.

Got a replacement board and Bob’s Your Uncle, no more damage!

That reminds me, lighting got one of my welders 20ish years ago. Got a new board for it ($175) and let my uncle look at the old one, he fixed it for less than $10.

Ever since then, when I get done welding at home I unplug my welder, and turn the breaker off.

Never been struck by lighting, but I had my CB radio internals burned up twice from driving through lighting storms in eastern Washington. After the second time (I know I'm a little slow) I started removing the antenna and power cables from the radio in future storms.

Full disclosure, you got to list the opaqueness due to oxidation. You wouldn’t want them returned due to fraud :D

That'll be in the paperwork the lucky winner receives, also they can't take possession until a complete background check, drug test, and physical is complete by a person who calls themself a doctor. Can't have sharp objects going into the wrong hands and we want to be confident you are in good enough physical shape to handle the package.
