My wife had an older crv (great automobile) but although it was well maintainded, by myself, it was getting long in the tooth and I said get yourself a new car.

    SO!
I was thinking of maybe getting rid of mine and getting somthing new. I'm tired of spending my weekend doing top notch work for no pay) I went to two diffenent make dealars .

Although more advanced, I still like the older technology.

Walking back to my old Taco, I got emotional, I said, your like an old dog, I can't get rid of you.

But what I am trying say is I want my wife to be safer than me. So its a better deal for me to keep mine a keep up with maint and repairs

If you know the maintenance history (original owner?) and it's in good shape, you really can't improve on the value of a late model 2nd gen, in my opinion.

It's worth what, like a quarter of a new Tacoma, and is 90% as good? I don't think anyone will regret keeping the second gens at this point, much like the 1st gen guys 5-10 years ago.

That's why I rebuilt mine after my wreck. Its to good of a truck to let go for now....not when I was able to do all the repairs for little out of pocket expense.

There are guys paying more in sales tax on their 4G than I paid for my 2G, tax inclusive. That makes me giggle (then I remember I effectively haven't had a raise in two decades and weep). So you probably know where my vote is.

Sounds like my arrangement may be in your future - wife has the new Subaru for the feel good safety tech stuff; I've got two 2000's vehicles with nearly a half million miles between them and the level of tech/automation I am comfortable with..we're both happy, as far as I know..

I will say Subies seem to have gone down in quality quite a bit. Not sure where I'd start if I had to buy my wife a new vehicle - probably a RAV4? Older 4Runner? Maybe a newer Honda CRV?

Keep it and enjoy it until it gets to the point that it’s just not worth keeping it anymore.

I have an 11 and she needed work this year. Got a new frame 3 yrs ago and after seeing how the reliability and the price of anything new has been I decided to do a full update and make her showroom worthy again. Almost there another 2 months of saving and work and it'll feel like a whole new truck again. Project Blue Betty lol
