I read that 1.5X the GVWR was ideal. Although, I fully agree that overkill is fine. I prefer not to run things at their maximum load. That's why I have snatch blocks, as well.

I got a 10k. It’s just for show anyway. Just like the 4x4 switch. :anonymous:

Mine is a 10K, also. Plenty of power for pulling shrubs, and saving myself from the occasional bad decision.

I have a winch because "somebody" told me that I have an empty space in the bumper.

The E.C. store might be out of the synthetic rope apex's now.?
Club members can get yourselves one for $506 this weekend.

I got it because I want to venture out alone again and not have a repeat of the earth will swallow you. (A tow would've been $500)

The beneficial uses of winch on lawn care are also very appealing.

That’s the other thing. I wanted the short bumper with the beefy tow hooks, just in case. So I ordered it. It looked sad and incomplete with the empty slot, so I kinda was forced to buy the winch so it didn’t feel bad.

All loaded up for river shenanigans. This should be... interesting.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Are you going upstream and floating back down or doing a one-way float and getting picked up by someone?

Paddling upstream and floating back. I might try floating downstream another time, though.

I found a nice spot about 1/3 miles upstream and I might just settle in here. Paddling upstream is not fun with a loaded kayak. And, there's a big group upstream in the area I was planning on setting up. I'm right by a railroad bridge, and there's plenty of good looking shoreline structure around.

You can see the bridge I put in by.

Thanks! I don't have a lot of confidence in this being a great catfishing spot. But, I think I should be able to catch a couple of bass around this bridge and all the wood around these islands if nothing else

The one thing I DON'T like about this setup.....20240831_104201.jpg
The photo makes it look worse than it is but it adds that dragging point.
    Sacrifices, I guess.

Take it out and store it in the bed until you need to run it. Then it isn't a dragging point.

It's what makes me hesitant about putting a front receiver on.
Permanently, per say, losing that extra clearance with the receiver hanging there.
Though being able to move it to front or back is probably the best thing about it.

Well, you don't have to worry about getting stuck anywhere. The lack of departure angle will ensure you won't venture very far from the pavement.
