I could really care less about 8 ounces. It works out to be 4% of the total oil capacity. I’m ok with leaving that behind.

After about 15 mins the trickle is down to damn near nothing. I sure as well am not going to let it drain overnight, that’s just dumb.

i normally take the 15-20 minutes to do a basic under-body inspection while it's draining. more than enough time for that.

Yep, that amount of oil is insignificant unless you have an extremely long oil change interval. If you are changing your oil every 10k or less I don't think you have to worry. The greatest risk we have with our oil is its contamination level. I mitigate this by using the best filtering media I can get and change the filter every change. Because I have a Baxter relocation kit I actually use a spin-on filter now. I get the largest filter available and use synthetic filter material that can filter at 20 microns. Here are my filter choices. Amsoil EAO34 or WIX 51393XP.

Installed it to limit mess on skids and to enable changes on our regular round-trip 2600 miles to the kids farm.

My second one, apparently dealer removed and crossthreaded original rather than let it drain slowly! Found out when my dread Low Oil light came on and discovered very slow seep from threads.
For several weeks oil level was fine, not clear if hot weather accelerated leak.

Thankfully caught it immediately on slow roads and had wife fly out two jugs of oil. Put in five quarts and drained 2.4 quarts excess. So light came on at maybe half fill?

Never letting dealer touch this again.

Upon later removal at home I found the hex faceted nipple nearly sheared off... clearly they put a socket on it.
I suspect this reduces the pressure seal on the ball in the valve and led to leakage.

Gingerly chased the oil pan threads with a tap when the new valve did not freely spin in. Sofar so good.

It’s been awhile since we added anything here so I thought I would add another advantage the Fumoto valve offers us that I didn’t include in the initial posing. I added a 24th advantage to the list and it is as follows.

    24. This advantage adds to Value #4, so this could really be #4a, which allows me to drain hot/warmer oil without the same risk level of getting injured. By being able to drain oil that is warmer we allow the engine to run, warmup, and suspend any contaminants that might be in the oil so they drain out and not stay in the bottom of the drain pain as they likely would do if we drained oil from a cooler engine.

Looks messy too...on the second video on Amazon, the oil gathers on the oil pan.
