    Guys,
i'm installing pizza cutters on my 2023 Tacoma, 255/85/r16, and wondering do I REALLY need to tune transmission - also does it affect warranty?

A stock truck should be tuned. The factory transmission programming is awful. Iv heard the flash can't be detected by the dealer. Is that true I have no idea. But I definitely wouldn't mention it being done.

You don’t “need” to tune it, but I agree with Veet-88….I couldn’t stand the way my truck drove without a tune (even on stock tires). It all depends on how much you care about the way the truck drives.

I put on 255/85r16’s and my desire to tune increased greatly. You can live with it, but personally I can’t wait to be tuned

What was your tire of choice? I’m probably going this route when these tires give up. I’ve been tuned for 90k+ miles going all the way back to OVTune. My current tune is from Yotawerx and I’m totally happy with the latest.

I decided to be a guinea pig for the Falken Wildpeak AT4W’s! The AT3s came highly rated, I needed 3 peaks, and preferred to stick with a load range C.

They’re durable as hell, but their weight reflects that lol. A little heavy but they have nice road manners, are quiet, and aggressive. No regrets, I like them a lot.

I’m leaning towards OTT, but we’ll see what I settle on when the time comes around haha

I’m leaning towards that same tire. Running Toyo AT3’s and pretty happy with their road manners. They are getting a bit louder now that the miles are piling up.

I’ve got about 6 months & 7k miles on em so far, they got a touch louder after 5k, but nothing major — they were dead silent before that. Feel free to reach out if you want to know anything about em!

Need is a subjective term. You do not need it. It won't hurt the truck to run it stock. It'll just make it a lot more enjoyable to drive with the new tune. I have had cooper stt maxx's for 40k miles now, they're great tires.
