Hello! I recently bought a 2012 Toyota Tacoma with 114K miles on it. Before I bought it, i got a PPI and it showed VERY early signs of a leak from the rear main seal. I drove it yesterday and it dripped a small amount of oil. How common are these issues with tacomas?

Yeah, its only like $1200-$1500 to fix, so not BRUTUAL to break the bank.

    Not very common.
    But as stated, it happens.

The timing cover, valve covers, and transmission output shaft seals usually leak first.

I do alot of river crossings, and mudding, and sand every time after Azuza OHV RMS leaks. A bottle of AT 205 and the seal will swell up again. Only a temporary solution.

How common is a rear main leak? It happens. Not a big deal.

10/100 is generally considered end of life for a wearable vehicle component.

PCV applies vacuum to crankcase. PCV valve clogs. Easier and cheaper to start with that and re-evaluate.

    It's $40.

so it turns out the leak was coming from the front differential where the CV Axle goes in - it needed a new bearing and seal. $350 fix.
