I purchased my 2019 LBDC TRD a few months back and love it. My family camp and explore the VA mountains a lot and the truck has been a comfortable upgrade from my 04. I had my 04 for 17 years and was very familiar with its pros and cons.

However, I am a noob the the 3rd gen so I do have a mpg question. Before anyone chimes in with it’s a truck not a Prius - I get it! I am just trying to gauge if I am generally in the ball park of mpg or way off like there is a problem. I’ve seen folks posting 19-21+ but I assume they are stock. Mine is modestly modified and I am getting 14 around town and if I am lucky 16-17 hwy. I live in the foothills of VA so there is not much flat land here. mods:

    • 2inch lift
    • 265/75/16 Lt Wildpeaks(lost is few mpg there)
    • RCI sliders
    • Currently carrying a low profile bed rack with smirky built xl tent
Since I have no reference I am just looking to see if all of the crap I added is equating to the mpgs or even with those mods I should be higher.

16-17 MPG on the highway is reasonable with the larger tires and all that extra gear. For comparison, I have the same size tires and averaged 17 MPG on a 1,300 mile trip this weekend on primarily flat ground. My highway MPG immediately decreased from 20 MPG to 17 MPG after installing 265/75/16 tires.

Thanks. Yeah, around town on these hills are rough especially with the amount of stoplights we have. I was just trying to get a baseline.
