I have a Bilstein 5100 using stock coil but wanted to replace with Dobinsins coil. I have a 2019 Tacoma DC Sports 4x4 with no additional weight in feont. Which Dobinsons coil do I need to lift 2”. My guess is C59-314 but not sure. Thanks.

But why? Bilstein recommends you keep 'em stock, especially if your not adding weight up front.

    Sorry, just curious.

What I have is that the ride is better if you are not pre-loading. With stock coil, you have to set the clip to probably the highest setting to achieve 2” lift. Whereas with either ome or dobinsons, as long as you get the correct coil, your clip setting on the 5100 will be at the lowest, thus not pre-loading.

I'd like to hear others but I don't believe there is any difference between adjusting the preload on the current spring and a longer spring, other than the different spring rates of the springs.

@Crikeymike - can you chime in on which coil will achieve 2” in front on a 2019 Tacoma DC Sports 4x4. Thanks.

@Crikeymike - I got the dobinson coils ordered in red at exitoffroad. Thanks again and cannot wait to try this on my taco.

OP, did you install the 314s on the 5100s yet? Thoughts?

I have and I’m loving it. The front lift is what was expected, 2”. It has the right amount of stiffness when paired with 5100s, not nose diving too much on bumps or when turning corners. And they look good

Nice, the 5100s with the red coils look great! What tire size are you running? Stock leaf springs? Looks level or maybe even slightly squatted(?)

It is leveled, just the angle if the picture. I took the easy route on the rear by adding 1.25” lift block since I don’t really do offroading or carry heavy loads. I have toyo open country 265/70 r17

nice, looks great man, I’m thinking about doing a similar setup. Trying to decide if I do the dobs coils on 5100s like you did or just get the dobs twin tube shocks as well. Not a huge price difference.

Do you find this setup to be stiff on road at all because of the 5100s?

I don’t find it stiff at all. I think it is perfect for what I was hoping for. Not rough but at same time eliminated the nose dive that I had when I have stock coils.
