i've fully transitioned to keeping a bunch of these around me. they work with every grinder, so when bouncing between my m18 cordless and my corded grinder, i just need one tool. but any place that sells grinders sells one of those tools as well.

 

Not to shit on ziptieing the wrench to the cord which I do on my screw chucked drill, but may I introduce a awesome milwaukee innovative I have on my grinder and love, I will admit that if you tighten it really hard you can't undue it by hand.

I have 5 total angle grinders, and don't use that tool for any of them

 

not for me.

the only time i really need the tool is for cutoff wheels-- by the time it either blows up or is reduced to nothing, it's self tightened to the point that i need the leverage of the pin tool to get it apart.

otherwise, i use flap discs for sanding, and those always stay large enough that i can undo them by the outer radius of the discs.

 

Same here. Only use wrenches on my die grinders.

It's a PrimeWeld fixture table











Going to be ordering another one to replace the table on the left - they're both 2' x 3' and both 3/8" thick but I'd like to have two tables that perfectly mate with each other for a large flat welding surface.

Pretty much the same as my other table.

I've had the other one for a year now and use it quite a lot, but needing more table top space for welding I plan to buy another fixture for the reasons mentioned above.

Otherwise, had I built my other table for a much larger dimension, I don't think I'd be replacing it.

I will add that the fixture table is significantly more flat than the other table; they don't advertise flatness anymore but the largest shim I can get to fit under my straight edge is .010 in the very center which is more flat than I need it to be.

Straight edge is an OEM tools straight edge that's accurate to .001 +/-

 

I've been kicking around the idea of building one myself but don't think ill get it that flat.

might have to just bite the bullet and get one or two tops for my small area.

They're the same table.

Except that PrimeWeld has an actual finish on the surface, versus an uncoated one like the Langmuir and the bolt setup for affixing the legs are different.

The biggest difference is the legs themselves. The legs offered by Langmuir are -

Designed in a weaker manner, the threaded plate for mounting the feet sits inside the tube

The feet are stamped out of thin steel

The legs are I think 16 gauge?

The welds holding the mounting plates are poorly tacked on (and have failed for many people)

PrimeWeld's supplier welds a 3/8" thick plate at the bottom of the leg, so the weight rests on the plate itself

The legs are much thicker, at 1/8" I think?

The feet are also machined, with a thick rubber foot pad at the bottom

And when you compare the pricing of the two, the PrimeWeld is a few dollars cheaper actually

And lastly, Langmuir uses 4 small bolts to affix the legs to the table versus PrimeWeld's 2 larger bolts so take that for what it's worth

But even if both were identical in every manner, I'd go PrimeWeld for the ridiculously amazing customer support

Had first bought a TIG225Z 3 years ago

Had a MIG180, and have been running a MIG285 for a year now

All PrimeWeld machines so the main guys know me pretty well now

You won't find better customer service than those guys

 

Are you on their payroll now? Is PrimeWeld in the room with us right now?

 

What's wrong with pointing out quality customer service many of us don't seem to experience anymore
