My 2007 TRD Sport keeps on having the lights illuminating the HVAC controls go out. Concurrently, the heater/air conditioner control will only work on high. Sometimes it will work on all four speed levels but then its back to high only.

The shop has fixed it three separate times and then it goes out again. I'm at a loss. I've thought fuse or wire but they've been looked at.

    Suggestions appreciated!

I just posted this one on someone else's thread yesterday. Check wiring in the passenger footwell.

I had an issue on my Gen2 where high fan speed would work, but got very weak or non-existant on other speeds. Sharing in the low chance it's related.

There's a quick-connect wire in the passenger footwell that controls fan speed. I inadvertently discovered it to be the issue because my sunshade slipped down there and bumped it, and my fan suddenly started working again. I grabbed the shade and it stopped. Jabbed around and it worked, etc. Ended up checking all the connectors down there, and sure enough one was a little loose. Electrical taped it up and never had the problem again.

Could you be a little more direct on the location. Thanks!

It's the lighting so you can see what fan speed you have and to see the control to turn.

    Thx!

So the backlighting, that's a completely separate circuit from the fan speed control.

When they go out do all your backlights on the dash go out or only the HVAC controls?

If sitting in the passenger seat, you could kick/poke at it with your left foot. Pull the passenger seat back as far as it goes, lay into the footwell and there's only like 2-3 visible wiring harnesses.

Only the HCAC control lights. Sorry about the late reply. Work has been hectic

I had this problem, fan only worked on high. Thank you for this information. I looked at the wiring at the left foot of the passenger side under the dashboard. With the fan on speed 3, not working, I played with the various wire bundles and one caused the fan to start working.
Seemed like a loose wire so I disconnected the 4-wire connector, re-wrapped the bundle with electrical tape, looked for any contamination or loose wires at the pins, and reconnected it. So far it is working great. Time will tell, but at least I know where the connection problem was.

Just went through all of this, replaced the resister and the connector, still only works on high. Any further pointers?

Assuming you have a 2nd gen (05-15) truck.
Get you a test light and see what your missing.
