was just down talking to wilwood at hammers, they are coming out with a wilwood 6 piston for the tacomas and it fits the trail readys.....and its cheaper than the 4 piston kit, so they say.... how are the 4 pistons working for you? since going to manual brakes the stock front calipers just aren't enough.

 

Mine are already 6 piston calipers. Plus the trail readys were made to fit a disc bigger than what you see in this pic whic is their 12.88 disc. They have another tacoma kit with 14 inch discs that will fit the TR wheels even though the wilwood site says they are for 18 inch wheels or larger. When I need new discs I will order the 14’s next time. The 2 kits use the same caliper. On the 14 they just use spacers to move the caliper up the 1/2 inch needed.

 

oh gotcha, didn’t realize those where 6 piston. Yeah they are gonna make a forged 6 piston that is a direct bolt on no adapter in April. Looks like it’s about 30% more pad. They have a Chevy kit out now but the Tacoma one isn’t due out till April from what they said.

 

Got some used but perfect condition seats for a great price. They are PRP Summit Elite daily driver seats. They came with the Solo motorsports adater plates so they fit to the tacoma seat rails.

 

Hmmm over a year and no updates.....guess I have one thing that changed....caged this mofo!!

 

To follow up on this, when you say slip yoke, do you mean the factory slip yoke rear section of the double cardan driveshaft or a custom one? Still running well, no issues? Do you think the open bearing would be a problem in the rust belt?

 

It’s still working well. Though I have changed the bearing once so far. It’s a sealed bearing so it should do well in any environment.
Any slip yoke factory or aftermarket is required. I put that out there because a stock 2wd does not have a slip yoke. I had an aftermarket one installed on the rear driveshaft for the SuA install.

 

So about a year for a bearing. I was hoping for some longer reliability. I really want to get to a point I'm not having to maintain it constantly. I'm ADHD and it's hard to motivate to do anything after getting home burnt out from work.

 

I wasn’t surprised that it only went a year or so. Same bearing now solid mounted is gonna take more abuse thus wear faster compared to it floating in a pillow. Thankfully I have several spare bearings laying around that I scored for free.

 

Cage looks clean and solid.
