Help with vsc module

    2017 tacoma
    My 2017 Tacoma started blowing tail lights and brake lights etc. Then it wouldn't shift out of park. Some how after tinkering it would shift. A month later it did it again now. Took it to my local mechanic he said it was the vsc or vtc module and only a Toyota dealership could fix it because it needed to be programmed. Is this true checking before I end up spending to many duckers in this.

    Well I suppose I should introduce myself before I start asking questions.
    This is my first truck I wanted something I could haul lumber and my charger wasn't cutting it..lol after much research I decided on the Tacoma. I didn't want a big truck but I wanted a durable truck. Lots of gravel in the south. I made the final payment and now I have to fix a part. I think they have timers on vehicle parts so u keep paying
