Dose anyone know where to goto to rent a gantry crane or were a tall beam is? I need to lift my shell off my truck for like 30 minutes so that I can redo the gaskets. I'm sure I can lift one side at a time but I don't think I'll get it back on straight and I'll mess up the gaskets shimmy it around.
There are 2 eyelets in that back that I can hook up to . Pretty sure I can lift it with some ratchet straps . I just need something tall enough to connect to.
Any ideas or insights would be helpful.
    Thanks for looking.
    Pic for reference.

I’d sucker a buddy with an unfinished garage into letting me put 1/2” lag screws into the joists.

Get one or two floor jacks level and stable in the bed of the truck, a pallet*** that is the right size for the roof of the topper, rig up some 2x4 or 2x6 supports and lift it straight up 10-12". Fix your gaskets and lower slowly....

***pallet or other suitable/manageable way to distribute load evenly on topper

Long shot but a small indie garage might let you rent usage of one of their lifts for a hour to do this. No idea what they would charge but you would be able to lower and position the cap very smoothly.
How high do you need to lift the cap above the bed rails? You said there's eyelets in the rear do you have something to securely attach to on the front?

If you can lift the camper shell from the inside of the bed, I would find a local hardware store that rents out drywall lifts.
That's assuming your shell is not 200+ pounds.

Well, we haven’t cut down all the trees around here, so a tree and a winch
If I can do that with a 400lb outboard, your cap should be fine, if you can get a strap attached to it

It weighs over 300. And I'd rather not lift it from the inside due to the bed and hing system.

I believe I can run a strap under the front nose.

Rope from front bumper, over tree, and attached to shell. Drive forward a bit.

JK I would find a way to use a pair of jacks from inside and spread the load using 2x4s. Personally I get inside, press my back against it, and lift with my legs but it's so much lighter than yours. You can get a few bois in there to lift the same way. Once it's up have someone put blocks on top of the bed. You don't need it OFF just for gaskets when 4-6 inches would be plenty. Just watch your fingers.

Fork lifts are awesome, extensions are even better for stuff like this.

I've contemplated it.. I'd rather do it myself so that I can put extra gasket materials where it's needed.
