I asked him about it and he said it's for the transmission cooler. He was in the process of running hoses to the front of the car.

 

Yup, I would be making the same face as well if I saw that .

 

Those of you with steel front bumpers. Looking for ideas to how you mounted your front plates.

 

I see a lot of tie straps.

 

What kind of car..........?

 

Used zip ties until I just drilled new holes in the plate and put screws through the bumper

 

I think I'm just going to ziptie around the tube kinda like Matts

Well, he already bought a Nissan... Nobody's perfect, but I think he's going to learn some lessons on why those coolers are never mounted like that from the factory...

 

Aren't we not supposed to modify the plate lol.

 

The plate has holes in it already.

 

Eh, it's kind of a gray area? Don't quote me / not a lawyer / go about things as you see fit... but I think it's better to have it on the truck than not at all and there wasn't any other way to affix it to my front bumper, so new holes was the only long-term solution.

 

I took some yard stick from HF that is aluminum. Cut off like 12" and bent it at 90 degrees. Drilled holes and put the plate on the long portion, bolted the short side to a recovery point

 

I haven't had a front plate on the truck other than for inspections.
Bought it in Dec 2019, dealer didn't put the front plate mount on. So I left it off.
'Rona hit, haven't been popped for it at all. Even when i was pulled over for other things in RI where front plates are compulsory, nothing was said.
Zip tie it to the grille for inspection and then it comes off the next day

Magnets worked fine for the rear but the front.. not so much. Lost 2 plates that way.

Replacement is only $10 so not terrible. You also get a letter from the registry that the plate is being replaced that is good for like 6 months

 

I saw my first new 2024 LC last weekend.

Assuming a standard Toyota lifecycle of 6-7 years I think I know what will be replacing the Tacoma in 2030.

6-7yrs is not the appropriate life cycle.......15+ yrs minimum

 

I was going to say, with The way prices are going these days, they use Land cruiser might be more expensive than if you just bought it new now

 

GF is considering trading in her Krautwagen for the Crown Signia. It will be so nice to not have to fight a German cockpit when I have to drive her whip.
