I have a 24 Tacoma Pro and live in Phoenix, AZ. I had a 22 Tacoma Pro before trading it in for the new Pro.

The air conditioning in the 22 Pro was absolutely incredible. Worked great despite the excessive Phoenix heat. It blew hard and was very cold.

I am not getting the same level of cooling in my 24 Pro. Definitely does not blow as hard as the 22 Pro.

I am looking for info on the best setting to get maximum cold and power in my 24 Pro as it just doesn’t seem to blow very hard.

I currently have the settings on “Lo” and “Auto” for maximum cooling. Even so, the a/c just doesn’t seem to blow very hard. Do I have my a/c on the maximum setting? Anything I am missing? Where do you have your a/c set to when you need maximum and immediate cooling????

    Thanks everyone!

Turn on the A/C and put the fan on max. Then get UV blocking tinting.

It’s because the air doesn’t blow directly in your face like on the 3rd gen also the vents are further away from your face on the 4th gen.

Recirc mode on? That definitely makes a difference in hot climates.

Most Toyota hybrids have an eco cool and heat button. Make sure it’s off. That should solve your problems.

Mine is a non hybrid and I have to turn the fan to the lowest setting otherwise it get too cool even with 100+ degree temps. Although it does take 15-20 mins too cool the cab down but after that it works almost too well. If you’re making a lot of short trips it may not get the cab cool?

Heard they changed the refrigerant, customer of mine recently purchased a Tundra Platinum, mentioned that and it doesn’t work as well like his wife’s couple year old Sienna.

$60K truck and ac is ho-hum. We are having our second hottest summer since they been keeping records.

2016+ has always been the new refrigerant, its just the design of this model.

Making sure eco is off is critical.

He said they changed it again, only going by hearsay however.

Maybe that is what he is doing wrong, believe he had it only a day when he showed me, might still be trying to figure out all the systems.

Your truck might be in ECO drive mode. The big round knob down by the shifter changes drive modes. Push the "Drive Mode" button on the left side of the big round button. Move the outer ring to change drive modes (ECO, Normal, Sport). There will be a confirmation on your dashboard. HVAC characteristics change with the drive modes in our trucks, p.382 of the manual:

Yes, it has been in Eco drive mode. I will set it to Normal drive mode and see if there is a difference. Thanks a million for the tip and taking the time to post the Owners Manual pages. That was very, very helpful and contained info I was unaware of.

So just to be sure I understand this correctly….my Pro Hybrid does not have a dedicated Eco mode related specifically to the a/c operation….correct?

But, the Eco drive mode affects the a/c operation in addition to driving characteristics of the engine???? To change this, I rotate the knob to Normal drive mode?

Many thanks to all who took the time to respond to my questions!!!!
