VA Regional Office - Closed

Sometimes it’s a struggle with the VA. My current primary care doc at the VA almost treats me like I’m wasting her time because I have a civilian primary care doc and would like the VA to treat my service connected issues. I asked for a treatment plan for emphysema which was diagnosed due to the PACT act and she said she has no information or test results so I would have to re accomplish all the tests again, so I’m just going through my civilian doc now. The VA has gotten a lot better since I first went in 2005 but still has a long way to go.

 

Anyone here get NEXUS letters for secondary claims? I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea today and according to the CFR that would be rated at 50%. I have already been awarded a rating for chronic sinusitis and sleep apnea is secondary to that with a nexus letter, I may have to use one of them fancy lawyer places.

 

If you have a Disabled American Veteran (DAV) office at your local VA, they will help you for free. Top notch people that know everything about claim submission , regulation and interpreting the jargon used in letters. I recommend you reach out to them if you can.

I should have added that there are those on that Reddit that can help with claims and the community info section can breakdown what states offer additional benefits. Some offer property tax exemptions, car registration discounts, school tuition and more.

Definitely worth looking into.

You can learn more about filing and appeal or high level review [HLR] and how to get a copy of your C&P evaluation. Always good to check that your rating matches what’s on the C&P. I had to get a HLR when my symptoms and exam didn’t match the rating I got. After the HLR, it was corrected.
