    Hey Guys,
I want to upgrade my suspension to be a bit more capable and I carry a constant load on the back with a cap and a sleep platform. I went to a 4x4 near me and they recommended Dobson kit. The middle kit cost with shipping about $3k and they charge $900 for install. A bit more than I expected, but not terrible. And this can lift me between 1.5 and 3 inches.

The gentlemen then asked me what I was going to do about tires and wheels? He said I had to upgrade those as well. Currently, I'm running stock wheels which are P265/65R17. Is this correct? Do I really need to get bigger tires for this setup? I thought it was the other way around, I need a lift if I want to run bigger tires? So that would cost me at least a few $2k more. So probably about $7k for new suspension and tires and wheels.

I'd love to do the suspension and not change wheels and tires, is that possible without going the spacer route?

I'm very much a novice on all this. Any info about this would be really helpful!

You do not need to upgrade the wheels and tires nor install spacers. Sounds like the guy is trying to make a bigger sale. I would be wary of a shop that tells you something like that.

Thanks for that. He said that the suspension kit changes the angle of things (or something like that). Is this because it's a Dobson full kit? It has new leaf springs, so not so much a lift kit as a suspension upgrade.

You will need to get an alignment after the work is done if the shop doing the work doesn't do alignments but that should be it.
