I know a lot of ppl have installed the Rockford Fossgate P-300 8 in the storage compartment behind the rear seats. Has anyone here taken apart the bass knob and been able to mount it into one of the poverty switches on the dash? I started taking a screw driver to it to try and pry it open with no luck. Is this thing glued together?

I debated on this but ended up installing it in the small cubby to the left of the steering wheel. I popped the cubby out and drilled a small hole in the top toward the back of it. Fed the control wire through the hole, plugged in the knob and secured it inside the cubby with double sided tape. Works well.

My OCD initially didn’t want to accept the oval knob housing, but my solution was quick, simple, and truthfully… I never notice it in there. So the thing can be oval for life without stressing me out

…and it’s in very convenient reach

Yeah, very easy to take apart, drill a hole in a blank switch and reassemble in the dash. I don't know if it's compatible with that rockford fosgate 8", but that powered sub definitely packs a punch for its size.

Maybe call Crutchfield and ask them about taking the rockford bass knob apart? Perhaps they'd have some suggestions?
