Hit and run on my taco :(

Happened in a parking lot at the golf club I play at. Myself and the staff believe we know who it was, and will be inspecting their vehicle for matching damage when it is spotted this week. I filed a police report already. Will find out today if cameras caught them or not in the parking lot.

For anyone who has gone through this, two questions….

1) Any idea what this repair might cost?
UPDATE: approx $3500
2) I’ve got a $500 deductible. Will this screw my insurance (live in FL)
UPDATE: I have claim forgiveness, so no. (Will be working to subrogate from the hit and runner)

So sad Why do people suck so much?

Damn that’s terrible.

I had something similar but not as bad. My rock slider saved me. It ended up being $5k to fix. Their insurance paid it out.

 

Well, that answers my question then. This will definitely be an insurance claim. The real question is will this person be caught on camera or admit to it, so their insurance pays. F.

Bummer man! If you can figure out who did it and they own up to it, then their insurance will cover it. If not, then yours will. And you will need a video of them actually hitting your truck. Citing "similar damage" probably won't cut it as they could deny your accusations and claim that damage happened elsewhere. Either way, hopefully they will own up to this, but I kinda doubt it since they drove away to begin with.

Will it affect your insurance rate? Maybe or maybe not. Good luck brother!

Ouch! Definitely not an ‘oopsie’ or an ‘I didn’t know’ hit. I hope you find them - and their checkbook. Or maybe have Moose and Roco help out…

 

Take it to a couple of independent body shops for estimates. I think most will elect to replace the doors (and transfer all the trim and hardware over) in lieu of trying to fix them, so doors, paint, and labor.

 

its hard to do an estimate on an internet forum
look up "body shop" in the yellow pages and call one and ask if they do estimates
take vehicle to them, DONT ask them to give an estimate from looking at tacoma world
they will give you a piece of paper with the estimate on it
get it fixed
pay them

Yes, already have an appointment booked with a shop. Figured maybe someone had a similar situation happen to them like this before (ya know, a good reason to use a forum).

Fact that they did hit and run means they are pos, call the cops and make the hit and run person pay.

 

Oh I filed a police report same day.

We have the time sheet for the day and the club notified the company who runs the security for the community. If they live in the community, they will be easy to find. If they don’t live here and left, the video coverage at the entrance/exits is being saved to review. We are gonna find this bastard!

 

There's a special place in hell for people like this. My wife's once flawless 2017 Forester has 2 nasty gashes
on the front and rear quarter panels that she acquired the last 2 years.

No way. it was a white car parked next to me and there is white paint all down the side of my doors.
