For the graphically inclined (using the goodcarbadcar.net data):

Since August was the first month in 2024 with any meaningful level of dealer inventory for all tacoma models, though still a bit on the thin side, I don't suppose Toyota is too concerned. Or at least, there's no way a reasonable person could look at this data in the right context of a new model release, and conclude the G4 is a flop. But that won't stop various Youtube conspiracists from claiming G4 is a bust and the end is near....

End of year 2025 sales will be a better measure if the 4G is a flop or not. Current trends says no.

YouTubers just don’t want to have real job and are more concerned about link clicks.

Some of the local dealers around here are offering dealer discounts on trucks sitting for ~30 days, and then they sometimes couple that with a 'Smartpath' discount if you fill in your personal info and can deal with getting emails/texts/phone calls from sales people. Between the two, I have seen a few of the OR's marked down $4-5k below TSRP. That was pretty consistent with the discounts I had back in April when I got my SR5 and it was $4400 under TSRP.

I wondered that too. There's a bad data source floating around out there. Zero would only happen if there were a sales halt due to a safety recall they had no fix/parts for (like the grand highlander is currently under). I found this: https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota...ptember-and-third-quarter-2022-sales-results/
which says 9/2022 US taco sales were 21,470 (18.7% above the 18,086 for the prior september).
