Deer hunting BS thread

I have those little owl looking sensors all over the property. I set them up so each location makes a different sound.
I just came in the house after spending hours painting stuff for the house in the driveway.
My sensor at the barway in the stone wall went off....



He then went around my house and popped out at the garbage cans...where I was 5 mins. earlier.

Got the so-called "bear proof" garbage container. It worked...I guess.

Gotta have yer head on a swivel around here.

 

It’s a jungle out there right now . Removed one section of ladder . Ground is uneven also . What a pain getting that thing to sit right and the tree is so big around it’s a pain with the ratchet straps .

 

Thick in there...right now.

 

My bad thought you got a deer...that looks crazy thick in there

 

As soon as rifle opens up and all the human scent is in the woods this is where the doe and better bucks head to ​

 

No seasons not open yet . October 1 for archery and 3rd Saturday in November for rifle .

Bill, In my first bear pic you can see the 2 cedar logs I sunk in the ground yesterday.

Gonna play around with a horizontal rub this year. My ladder is about 25 yards away in the woods.
Watched the guy from Hunting Public use one, so I'll give it a shot. Nothing to lose.

 

My Florida deer pics are nothing to write home about. But I do think we have some big bear here. I’m not sure what they eat to tell you the truth. No salmon run, no endless supply of blueberries. We have deer and hog, but is that enough? The area is mostly pine without a lot of agriculture. No season for these guys here unfortunately. So far there hasn’t been any damage.

 

They prob dont hibernate, if they do its not like up north. They eat most anything...but deer and hogs would be good meals

 

I’ve thought about the horizontal rub also . Seen those same videos ,that guy shoots monsters . I did hang a grape vine from a tree above a mock scrape . Got pics last year of small bucks and does messing with it .

 

We have more and more bear here now . In the last 30 years I’ve seen 3 bears here . One I killed with the crossbow. We never would see bears around here they seem to mostly be on the other side of the Hudson River west of here in the Catskill mountains or just over the border to the east in Massachusetts . I have trail cam pics of some bears and lots are being seen now compared to years ago .

It’s just amazing the bear doesn’t get heat stroke! I did tractor work up there last month and it was deep into the 90’s. I’ll see them for a few weeks then they disappear every year.

 

I’m sure they are hanging out very close to water . Wouldn’t doubt they are laying in it

 

I have beaucoup grapevines on my property. I'm placing the horizontal rub beneath a low hanging branch of a crabapple tree.
When the time comes, I'll spice up the branch with some grape vines and start a fake scrape as well..

 

Biologist in Vermont once told me they like dark, mossy-boggy areas to hang around in.
