I imagine the hangup was not only living in Italy. Newey got a heck of a deal.
    • ~$30M/year not including bonuses of up to ~$10M year more
    • becomes part owner of the team
    • becomes managing technical partner
The only one of those he would have gotten from Ferrari is the first one.

Mr Stroll has very deep pockets and wants to win a championship badly. Now it appears he's on track to get it done. $$$$ talks and you know the rest. Alonzo 2026 world champ. Maybe next year we'll see? But even so McLaren looks like the team to beat now so its going to be fun to see.

All the Newey's in the world can't make the nepo baby quick enough to win a WDC.

F1 stating that these are the new ‘affordable’ prices for the F1 race in Vegas. It’s almost like a billionaire set these prices.

Oh man, didn't notice this thread until now, been into F1 since I was apparently at Silverstone in 1974...but I don't remember. I was also at the last F1 race in Long Beach but I do remember that. Gotta say I am really enjoying this season. Well, we, fortunately my wife is a long time fan as well.

Lance is just a tool though but with Alonzo? Interesting. BTW I used to live off Indianapolis and Newland for 30 years. And downtown. We miss Philly Grille on Beach....

I'm suspect that I can travel to the Netherlands, stay in Amsterdam, and watch a race at Zandvoort for somewhere around the same cost as Vegas or Miami and actually be someplace worth visiting. Think Montreal would be even less expensive and, again, far more interesting. Am planning to look into both ideas as medium term vacation ideas.

    I totally agree.
It's been a couple of years, but I flew into NYC, spent a couple of days exploring Manhattan, rented a car and drove to upstate NY.
I spent a couple of days driving around the Hudson River Valley and the Finger Lakes region (absolutely beautiful), then drove on up to Montreal.
Spent 4 days in Montreal, exploring on my off time, the rest of the time I spent at the track.
I actually bought 2 separate track tickets in different locations so I could get different perspectives of all the F1 activities.
After the race, I drove back to NYC in a day, and caught a flight home.
I did ALL of that for a LOT less than the $2700 for a Las Vegas ticket.

    Cheers

need to learn more about this stuff
ITS ALL ABOUT $$$$$$. you need a wealthy American family to get their son into karting and racing and if he has decent skill, he will be a F1 driver. doesn't matter about how close tracks are or anything of that sort. its the equestrian of motorsport.

Yep, costs about $3 mil to race in F2 for a season. Whatever sponsorship doesn’t pay, the driver has to pay for the rest…

Just curious were you got that $3m figure?
Not doubting you at all, but I've always been intrigued about how much it costs for high level racing.

    Cheers

I'm by no means a Lando fan, but he was required to slow for the yellow flag caused by Ocon. Shit timing.

He had 18 minutes prior to that to ensure he had a good lap.

    Ferrari remains fascinating!

Something was bent is now fixed. Should be a good race
