Upgrading 3rd gen Tacoma sound system

Hi, I have a 2019 Tacoma double cab and have been looking into some ways to upgrade the sound system in it such as getting a new amp, replacing speakers or tweeters, things around those extent. I was wondering if anyone had some insight for me on the best way to make my truck’s audio performance louder and sound better. I am looking for any cheap and easy fixes, not really trying to replace or add multiple parts. I wanted to know what I need to change out to get the results I’m lookin for. Such as do I need to get better tweeters or speakers or just a new amp in general or maybe just add a sub. Any help is appreciated.

 

Below is what I just ordered. Mostly plug and play with a few adapters. Crutchfield is good for extra parts and needed install equipment. I have the JBL in my 2019 DC. If I read properly, just adding these components to mine will make a huge difference. Then if I want to upgrade the amp later, I can.

I just wanted better sound quality, more bass, and overall cleaner with less distortion at higher volumes.

Oh, and I will be adding a little bit of sound deadening material also.

I did all this based off a couple hours on this forum. There are some extensive threads, but most of the stuff I don't understand and it is over my head. I just tried to follow the simple stuff.

Thank you, out of those items that you linked would you say that one replacement seemed to be more impactful compared to the others? Like would you say changing the tweeters resulted in the higher bass and cleaner audio or was it the door speakers or was it more like everything together helped the music audio?

This is a rabbit hole . You need to decide what you want . I have essentially the same truck and you won’t want to hear this , but if you want it to sound better change the speakers front and rear . Then next level look at trail grid pro . They have a high powered Sony unit or two that is plug and play . It will make the aftermarket speakers sound way better . 3 rd level would be to add a subwoofer , less expensive would be powered .

Audio control ACM 4.300 amp for 4 doors and tweeters
Audio control ACM 1.300 amp for sub
Alpine 6x9 separates for front with tweeters
Alpine 6 inch coax round rear ( there are new model numbers )
10 inch sub behind rear pass seat running at 2 ohms
Data link maestro for steering wheel controls
Everything looks factory
I put 6x9 separate s in the front for a little more mid bass.iIts not crazy powerful but it sounds ultra clean , and has really nice bass.
For Easy Star makes a box that will fit in the passenger cubby. Add a speaker and your good to go
Best part everything looks factory and works like before . The only thing you loose is the turn by turn ( if you had factory nav ) on the cluster and the stations info there as well. Other wise all the same

 

I thought about going with the JL audio C2s front and rear. Has anyone tried these? The salesman at the shop was pushing the C1 speakers but they are the cheapest ones that JL makes(i think) and I would prefer a mid range speaker. The stockers definitely gotta go.

 

I would do the C2-2650 for the front. And a C2 coax for rear . The dash speakers are important for sound stage. Then if you cross them over at 80 or 100 Hz you will keep the heavy bass out of them . Then the sub will pick up the deep lows

 

Decide on a budget first, even if it is incremental. I had the coax’s mentioned by Cossi above for a couple of months and loved them. They improve sound stage tremendously! I recently decided to put some Audison mids in the dash and couldn’t be happier. Falling further down the rabbit hole…

 

What Sub are you using?

 

I am using the JL stealth box I picked for the clean install. Looks totally factory. Sounds great but it’s pricey.
All this stuff is expensive , but so worth it , at least to me . I enjoy driving the truck sometimes just for the radio.
