    This is actually quite remarkable.

There is very little build up on the block and head fins.

I fully expected a bad head gasket, but oddly enough, there is no indication of overheating.

99% of the heat rejection occurs from the head. This motors' cooling system was doing its job.

I can't wait to blast it clean to see where all the oil was coming from.

    Stay tuned...

    Lol, Bill.

I never, ever enjoyed the sounds of dual exhausts. My mind is always trying to find out what odd noise the car may make...it's difficult with the voices in my head that won't shut up.

Non of the pulleys were set up, plus I removed all the belts.

I couldn't make it move by turning the flywheel bolt.

All I know, once I gained access to the crank shaft where I could put a pipe wrench on it, it broke free fairly easy.

I could tell it been sitting outside for a year or 2. It had mouse/rat nests that needed cleaned off the the chassis.

I never expected it to fire up so easy after freeing up the crank.

One thing I need to note: I pulled the #2 plug to see it's condition. It looked perfectly normal.

The #1 plug was still in place because I couldn't access it with a socket.

When it started up so easy, it started up on 1 cylinder. I quickly shut it down and installed the second plug and restarted it.

I have no way of verifying, but maybe the #2 cylinder was hydro locked. Removing the plug allowed it to turn over?

I've been telling myself to invest in a bore scope for years. They getting so cheap, I need to do it .

The only thing I have not checked is the PTO clutch. I'll see if it is froze on the engaged position.

I'm skeptical. The deck pulleys and spindles are all freely moving. If the PTO was froze, the starter still should have turned over the engine.

With all the oil on that deck, the pulleys better be smooth operating!

This machine was blasted by thousands of gallons of water to put out the structure fire, who knows where that water may have got to.

be sure to get one with an included screen. i've had a few of the one's that connect to an app on my phone. they all fail really quickly, usually due to the phone updating software somewhere and not even knowing about it.

I think I've narrowed the oil leak location.

I noticed play in the governor shaft seal. I can actually see the shaft wiggle side to side in the seal.

Oddly enough, the main seal looks fine, even if it was installed crooked. You can see it's cock eyed.

I removed the flywheel to check the magnets. They are fine and the top of the engine is oil free.

I want blast out the squrell nest tomorrow then fill it with used oil and see if anything seeps out.

As bad as this leak was, its gotta show itself fairly quick.

I do plan on replacing those seals, but I want to verify while the engine is on the bench.

Cleaned the piss out of the Kawasaki...along with shit and grass and leaves.

    Reassembled the engine.

Added 2.5 qts. If used oil. And left the engine on the bench for 4 hours.

Found a pretty decent oil slick on the bench. Sure looks like the governor shaft seal took a header.

The crank seal looks just fine.

I did not run the unit and I know there are small pressures present that will encourage a leak, but I'm confident that this unit was puking oil out of the governor shaft seal.

I could only imagine, with the oil water thin after being run for a while, the leak would be much worse.

Installed the new seal. Pried the old one out with pic.

    New one installed easy.

Oiled up the shaft and the seal slid right in. Seated it using a 3/8" socket. Couple taps with the side of the hammer head to be sure.
