The clear delta here is your petite wife not the truck or the FOBs, correct? If so, what are you expecting the dealer to do / say here?

There's more than a few around here that would prefer their wife's key not work to their truck. Think of it as damage reduction.

    "Going in" where ?
Like has been suggested try a new battery from a place that sells a lot of them like walmart.
Buy at least 3 (1 can be a spare).
Start with fob for wife ( I'd stop calling it the "key").
After removing from packaging, take off protective paper on actual battery .
    Install right side up.
If it works do the same for yours.
Or.."go in" to dealer and spend at least $200.

Take that as a win and know that you will never have to deal with her hitting something in your truck. /thread

It's covered, the dealer is taking care of it. I had one of the trucks that didn't come with a fob. This is the second time it's lost connection, my memory was short because it happened the day after I got the new key. Go figure.

Update, the dealer is perplexed, the trucks security system doesn't like it and the tech has had it for an hour. Gotta like extended warranties.

Wonder if they gave you an actual OEM key or if it’s a knockoff. Lots of issues with knockoff keys. If it was a genuine key from Toyota the dealer gave you, then I would say it’s just an issue with the key. They should just replace it. Especially if this is the second time you’ve had an issue.

Starting a vehicle begins with the key. Kinda fundamental...
