From my perspective/experience Old Man Emu is the only choice but I cannot afford this for my 2016 SR5 at the moment. I've realized I should lift the truck to help reduce the risk of exposure to salted winter roads but have only one real option at the moment. That is, I have seen used TRD lift systems on craigslist but must ask about the ride quality these provide before I try to pursue one of the used kits. I would also need to know about the system compatibility among the range of Gen3 model years.

Additionally, I do not want to lift the truck much; perhaps 2"??? I have not searched the market for options but will begin this work this weekend.

My 2016 is a club cab long bed SR5. I purchased it used 2 years ago so it has the OE system which has significant comfort. I know this feature is usually reduced when lifting a vehicle so this is why I ask.

I spoke with a dealer about this just after posting this and the salesman I talked with gave me the impression he has history with the Tacoma/Toyota. He informed me the Gen3 Tacoma's feature a 1" from the factory. Can anyone confirm or refute this? How do the Offroad or Pro models compare to this ride height?
