So never ended up doing a build page for my 3rd Gen, but this new 2024 Tacoma makes it my fourth Tacoma overall (2010, 2015, 2021, & now 2024). Probably won’t be much of a build page, but I haven’t really seen too much out there yet. So really just gonna be for me to document maintenance, mods, and just randomness.

So bought the truck middle of July 2024, ended up $2,500 off MSRP before some other Toyota discounts so pretty happy on the deal I got.
I have a TRD Off-road double cab, short bed, with the mid level package. So heated cloth seats and the other odds and ends, but not the full premium.

Initial assessment on it is they certainly fixed the seating position now. The seat position is a lot more comfortable now compared to the previous gen’s (I am familiar all the way to 1st gen and early 90s). I do have the 14” screen and the JBL sound system. The screen is cool but def obnoxious in a way. I have had issues with a speaker in the driver side dash that we finally diagnosed and getting replaced.

Ride is awesome, fuel economy is averaging like 2.5-3mpg better than my 3rd gen. The smaller fuel tank is annoying.
I turned off most of the safety feature for lane centering and such as they were annoying to me. The 4cyl does make some ok noises, at times, but it does have an industrial sound occasionally. But it def has more pick up and go, all of my previous Tacomas were manual transmissions so I had that benefit especially on the 3rd gen with the 4.30 gear ratio.
Automatic transmission took some time to self learn, but after 2,200 miles it shifts flawless with no issues.
The lack of a separate bump stop in the front has me worried as you really get a clunk on speed bumps.

Overall I am very happy with the truck. I wish the rear seat room grew a bit more, I am still able to get my kids three car seats in the back which is good. With the dealer discount I got it brings it closer to what I think Toyota should have been pricing them at, but I still think they are a hair overpriced. Ether a little more soft touch items on the dash or door panels, or making some of the plastics a little stronger (I see flex on the center console when I remove something from the cigarette lighter or if you push on the door with your knee). But Toyota does see some drastic price increases between generations and then smaller increases after that. Versus the Ford Bronco which jumped like $10k from when it came out 3 years ago.
I would say to people go out and test drive it before you come up with your own opinion on it.

I got mine from Steet Toyota in Johnstown NY. This is my 4th Toyota from them and I got my dad to buy a Tacoma from them as well. So I have a pretty good relationship with them. If you call ask for Victor Pagan, just tell him you got his name from John Zwack. They’re always really nice to work with

So had the truck for about 6 months and just under 10,000 miles. So far pretty happy with it minus the tiny fuel tank.

just moved from NY to NJ and it handled the U-Haul trailer without any issues doing 70-75mph average with some bursts to 80… but damn the 10.9mpg fuel economy that went with it was terrible.

only issue I had with the truck so far was the dash JBL speaker died right after I got the truck.

Replaced the lousy factory tires with some 285/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja At’s. So far loving them. Little louder on the road but nothing too crazy. Loads better in the snow as we just got hit with a storm.
Primary reason to replace these was the factory ones were garbage in the snow. These look to have decent reviews and initial impressions in the flurry we got is a lot better.
No noticeable loss in power. Shall see if the MPG suffers much.

edit: forgot to mention I have 0 clearance issues so far on the road. No rubbing to report

Have a few hundred miles on the new tires now.
So lost about 2 mpg going to them. That’s taking into account the 3.37% difference for each mile traveled. Did the same drive from NY to NJ I’ve done now a few times with the truck and ended up around 17.5mpg versus 19.5-20 that I got with the stock tires doing 70-75mph
Playing around with air pressure since they put 37psi in it and seemed very rough so went down to 32. Might bump it a bit.
Also add these are standard load versus LTs

the road hum isn’t to bad but it’s def more than stock. I’ve noticed the truck is in the boost a lot more especially on the highway above 72. So my guess if you drop the speed down a bit you’ll really gain back that lost mpg

time will tell if I’ll buy these again but certainly like them so far and still 0 rubbing

I have some 285's on my truck now and the sweet spot for psi has been 34. Anytime i've dropped below that the truck steering and such feels like it's "grabbing" the road too much. I still get pretty good mileage even at freeway speeds betweeen 70-75 at the 34 psi though. I do have the toyo AT3's but might be something you try and see how it works.

Yeah looking at the dirt/salt pattern on the tread it seems to be wearing even across. But yeah I think I might bump it up to 34psi.
It’s been averaging around 17mpg now which is ok but def lost a few compared to the stockers. I think the At3s are a little closer tread pattern which probably why you didn’t loose as much as I did with the Mickey Thompsons. Truck doesn’t seem to notice the bigger tires
