First time flushing 05 tacoma and doing a flush, so truck may have been neglected (fathers truck, past away a few years back). After draining radiator and block plugs I got only about 5qts total of coolant. Closed up plugs and poured DI water.

    Questions:
While waiting for water to bubble and drain with radiator funnel kit there was a consistent flow of little bubbles and the left over water in funnel eventually changed color also but seems to be from old coolant top off? Can't tell if it's pinkish

I don't see any issues, there is sure to be some residual coolant still left after draining and it should be pink so your DI water solution will have a slight pink hue. Bubbles aren't really too concerning but if you are worried there is something wrong like a head gasket leak then you can try one of those engine combustion leak detector tools that reacts with gases (bubbles) to be sure of things. I don't think I'd lose much sleep over it but maybe other people will chime in to give you other ideas.

    Good luck doing your restoration/maintenance!

I'm curious where the rest of the coolant went, the 4.0L should hold right at 2 gallons of coolant. If you opened both block drains and the radiator drain and only got 5 qts, 3 qts went missing somewhere.

Thank you for your reply. After flushing and putting new coolant in it didn't bubble so maybe there isn't much to worry as you suggested.

Yea im thinking since the car probably never had coolant flush, maybe it was just coolant that had eventually evaporated. It's a 05 taco with about 170k miles. Way overdue.
