Not sure if there's room in the Tacoma but check under the glove box if you take out. That's where I put mine in my jeep it fit perfect.

IIRC it does. A port on the other side and then a jumper cable to go to the radio.

I just bought some velcro, stuck it to the bracket it comes with and mounted it under the passenger seat and ran a cable to an rj45 jack by the passenger side center consol 20230902_160618.jpg

Don't they all need to be grounded?
I only mentioned it because I have one of those tabs that attaches to the bed rail thinking I was good to go but I guess not...for now.

The gmrs and short ham stuff doesn't need to be with the right antenna. But mine are. CB should be if you want to get the most out of it. It also helps with notorious things like alternator whine and such.

That’s EXACTLY what I plan to do. I already have the RJ45 port and Cat5 cable. How was it taking out the Qi button? Any YouTube videos or instructions on it?

It’s been awhile since I did it. I think I pulled my head unit out and managed to to get my hand down to the button and unclip it. Or maybe I used a long screw driver to depress the button clip and push it out. Just look up videos on taking the dash apart and follow that until ya can access the buttons.

Awesome! Okay, this seems pretty straight forward then. I’m comfortable taking the dash apart. So now I’m planning on mounting the MXT575 unit under the front passenger seat and running the Cat5 cable through and along the center console and then up into the dash and replace the Qi charger button with the RJ45 port. I will probably need to extend the power wires that connect to the battery but that shouldn’t be too bad.

I just had all of mine out to install the anytime backup front/rear setup (which isn't working yet) and also re-order the switches. Funny because I've recently been using the wireless charger, mine is on and ziptied behind the other switches.

Pull the oval trim trim around the radio straight back towards you (AC vents will be in this assembly)

You don't need to remove the radio (if you want to you'll just have to reach further down to the switch).

Loosen the bolts so you can tilt it up a little bit as you pull the hvac control panel straight back just like the radio trim then you can reach behind and push whichever buttons out towards you (they have clips at the top and bottom, you kind of rock it a little up/down as pushing forward and it'll pop out).

Update: I finished the install and I couldn’t be anymore happier with how it turned out. I ended up applying 15 lb. Velcro to the base of the head unit’s mounting bracket and stuck it to the carpet underneath the front passenger’s seat. I ran the wires underneath the carpet so everything is hidden. The power wire and Cat5 went through the center console area and the antenna cable went through the passengers side door sill. Popping out the Qi wireless charging port and swapping it for the RJ45 port was pretty straight forward. The only real challenge I had was getting the antenna cable through the firewall on the passengers side. Once I got the technique down it made things so much better but it did require another person to help.

Nice. Those salt shaker antennas kill me. Haha. Don't get me wrong. They serve a purpose

I’m working on the same thing, about to go through the same grommet. Any tips?

edit: I got it. I snipped the lower of the two nipples and pushed the coax in from the cab side, then sealed it up.
