I went with this package: https://www.shocksurplus.com/produc...64120&tw_source=google&variant=39795258490929

    6112 up front
    5100 on back

And had them set at +.9" from Shocks Surplus.

I've got a 2012 Double Cab V6 4wd, completely stock, camper on back and rear shocks are leaking and tired so the rake is gone and truck is riding a bit low overall.

I'm hoping to get +1" over the stock ride height, front and back. Do I need to get an add a leaf kit or will the 5100 in the back get me that +1" on it's own?

Any and all info is appreciated, thanks folks!

AAL is for supplementing a healthy leaf pack, yours is old and worn.

Typically a 1" leaf block is perfectly mated with the 5100 in the rear. No side affects.

But because you have a heavy camper I'd suggest a heavier leaf spring set like the Icon RXT or OME rear leaf springs.

I adore the 6112s you have a good set, you're just missing a piece of the puzzle.

Not sure why anyone is buying or selling 5100 with 6112. They are different class shocks.
    5160 matches 6112. Not 5100.

Shock absorbers job is to absorb shock. That' why they're called shock absorbers.

Height is determined by a spring springing up the truck. Many parts to choose from.

Thank you for specific and helpful recommendation on parts.

Re: 5100's paired with 6112's up front - from what I gather, many folks who don't want to mess with mounting a reservoir run this setup, and Shocks Surplus sells quite a few of this combination.

To your point, if leafs determine rear height... I'm looking for information/parts guidance on achieving +1" over stock in the back, to match the +1" the 6112+Coilovers will give me up front.

I have the Icon RXT on the way, but many threads/pictures/info from Icon stat 1.8" over stock in the rear. I'm not sure I need/want to go that high.

Can you recommend a specific leaf set that will get me there? As the other commenter mentioned, I should probably just replace the whole leaf pack.

I have RXT. Theres single AAL 1”-1.5” and Icon progressive AAL.

5160 reservoir comes with parts to put it on.

6112 is thicker 2.3” more fluid
    5160 reservoir is more fluid
    5100 is not

make sure your brake lines are long enough for whatever you run. Not a bad idea to replace or upgrade them at this time.

if you already have 6112 then you’re gonna have some playing around to do with figuring out what height you want everything and choosing what to make the rear in comparison to where you set the front.

The Icon progressive AAL is said to be better than a single AAL.
People generally say to avoid running RXT in op1 claiming that it flattens.

never tried finding that out. Bought mine used set to op3 and left them there. More lift for wheeling, looking good, carrying stuff on my bed, intermittently in my bed, and towing.

Thank you very much, very helpful. I'll look into brake lines.

I'll put the RXT on in option 1, with the 6112 set at .9" and see how she sits. I might go to option 2 because I have the camper on the bed, we'll see. I'm trying to avoid having to upgrade any driveline parts, because as you can probably tell, this isn't my area of expertise.

    Thanks again.

camper shell? That’s 200lb of constant weight not to mention anything you may carry. Op2 or op3 would be better. You can lift the front in accordance to that. You’d be within CV limits.
    Why not?

not a bad idea to replace brake lines with SS regardless. It’s a wear item. Might as well put longer ones while you’re in there.

5100s in the rear work with Icon AAL no issue.

With rear leaf springs you dont "need" longer shocks with lift, but to get full travel you should upgrade them.

5100s are designed for 1" extra travel and work well with any leaf pack big or small. If you really want the extra 1/2" travel you'll need longer shocks, but 5100s are very commonly used with this setup and pairs with the front.

    What year is it?

If you want to retain a small rake I'd go second highest perch.

If its an older truck, I'd suggest a new leaf pack, the icon AAL is a 4 month band aid for old packs. I only put them in new packs or young packs. You'd be better off with a 1" block if you want a lift on an old pack.

Yes blocks on the rear do contribute to twist AKA axle wrap.
Although a lot of guys use the OME coils on their 5100s, the 5100s are designed/intended to be used with stock/factory coils. Sorry I can’t advise which coil would match which leaf pack…
