There is a thread on here about fitting carseats in an Access Cab, and I can report that while infants are a pain, once you upgrade to the booster seats that have a headrest and use the seatbelt, all is OK.

I am now at the next step. 7-year-olds getting too big for the booster with headrest. Any my 2006 Access Cab does not have headrests.

    1) Has anyone added Toyota headrests to a 2006 Access Cab? Dealership says parts don't exist.

    2) Any other solutions? (I am willing to allow that the sliding rear window will become fixed.)

    3) As a last resort, I am thinking about getting the Dakota headrests on ebay and using velcro to attach them to the window, but this may not pass the spouse approval test.

    Thanks

    More than I can afford
I think it has changed a couple of times.
2005-2009 or so is like OPs
2010-2015 has different seat bottoms, back area, headrests (and the rear door panels have no speaker holes).

I took the headrests out of my 2010. When they are up you can't see out the back window and they cut into cargo space when folded down. Have owned the truck for about 6 years now and other then my wife when I test drove the truck, I don't think anyone has ever sat back there.

To add the OEM headrests out of the later model 2nd gens I think you would basically need the whole rear interior. Not even sure if the pickup points for the headrests are on the back wall of the cab on the earlier trucks. The mounts for them are a lot lower on the back wall then you would think.

2006, no headrests and child seat tiedowns are only on passenger rear.

@ETAV8R swapped the other way about 10 years ago. He posted on TW 2 days ago, so he’s still around. Maybe he can shed some light on if the headrest mount holes are in the early 2nd gens. I’m gonna guess they’re not.

Here's what the mounting looks like on the 3rd gens. I wonder what the inside of the 2nd gen rear panel looks like. These suckrrs came off as soon as I bought the truck.

My early 2009, July build?, had the rear headrests. I removed them on day two.

dead thread I know but I figured I would document this as my first post on Tacoma world. I have a 2008 Access cab and I did some extensive comparisons of the interior of later model access cabs with my own and decided to go ahead and take the plunge. The headrest literally hook right into the existing back panel. It appears that all of the screw holes line up as well, I will follow up with pictures once I purchase some OEM screws and a Dremel tool to do a little trimming on the plastic back panel so I can get it to sit flush.
