First truck

Hey all!

I was told to sign up here by the guy who sold me my Tacoma, and have already found tons of valuable info before even signing up.

This is my first ever truck after having been through the performance car ringer. And I’m loving it so far, looking forward to taking her off road.

Here she is in all her glory. 1997 Tacoma SR5, with 4Runner seats and an ARB diff locker (for which I’ll need to source a compressor). 268,600 on the chassis but about 114,000 on the engine.

Paint is a little (or a lot) rough, but I’ll be going off road often enough so I figure the paint is of little concern.

Low mile engine with a Locker.

I think you need to take her to the dirt.

 

Yep! Planning on it this weekend. I live in San Diego so I'm heading out to the Palomar trails. Probably Anza Borrego next weekend.
Didn't have enough money left over to buy the compressor for my locker, so it'll be a little bit before I can get that. Also there's a couple parts that need replaced first, namely the U-Joints and the transmission mount. Doing those hopefully Friday so I can utilize the long weekend for some nice wheeling.

 

Check the ball joints.
They are a weak link on those trucks.

Thanks! Heartily enjoying it so far. Have taken it wheeling once and am planning on going again this weekend now that I’ve addressed some of the bigger issues.
