A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! More hot stuff with no rain; back to August for us. Going to fill up the RAV for wife's little meeting trip tomorrow, and see if I can find a switch I know I have to replace on the umbrella lights for the table. Anything past that is bonus.

Updated a couple iPhones and a laptop yesterday. Don't see anything different, so I must have done it right? Who knows.. I'll find out the hard way. I miss the old wall phone in the kitchen, growing up. When it rang, it was always someone you wanted to talk to. Not so, anymore.

Good morning. How are you feeling?

I bet I installed thousands of kitchen phones. The big feature of high-rise apartment built in the early to mid 60's was the Panel Phone.

The pink rotary dial Princess phone was a rare install, but I did install them.

Good morning. Went to a High School girls soccer game last night. Good times.

New family member but no name yet.

    Good morning all.

I have had a few tests done recently. One of the tests was a Calcium CT Scan. Anyone done that one? If you are unfamiliar with it, it is a quick non-invasive scan to look at your heart and see if/how much calcium (plaque) is in the arteries at your heart. Zero is the best score...my score is 1,150. That is bad, as I am told. I am in the 90-100 percentile, meaning that 90-100% of men my age have a lower (better) score than me.
This is very unsettling for me as my father died of a heart attack while doing a stress test at the age of 53. That was way back in the 70's and no such technology then. My Dr. is in a rush to get me on statins.
I am going for a cardio visit tomorrow. Been learning a lot since last week's results. I do not take any meds...rarely even an ibuprofen.
    I'm curious to know:
Anyone here have Calcium CT scans?
What are your experiences with Statins?

I take statins for high cholesterol, not a good family history. They make my joints ache. My Cardiologist says to stay the course. I walk everyday, best / cheapest heart health activity you can do, also take low dose aspirin. Talk to your doctor, and explore all options. Don’t procrastinate , get a plan!
Drink water, lots of water, helps thin the blood, lots of water

I had the Calcium scan done in January of this year. My older brother, age 73, had a stroke late last Fall and our mom died of a stroke several years ago. Doctor told me that test is currently the only test that gives a decent idea of your stroke risk. The variation I had done seemed more aimed at checking the arteries in the neck leading to the brain? I was told a scale of 0-5 with 0 being the best possible score. My risk was put at a 2 and I was told for my age, 61, that a 2 is still pretty good.

I've been on a low dose statin for several years and last year joined a gym and started exercising more seriously and regularly. Lost about 20 pounds and my cholesterol numbers have dropped to a point where the doctor was going to take me off the statins and try that for a while. With the family history of strokes it was mutually agreed I will stay on them. I do get a few odd muscle cramps now and then but not sure I'm ready to blame them on the statins or not. My brother is still with us but he's not the same after his stroke. I don't want to go through that.

WOW! First morning it has been in the 40s! Still days are in the low 80s and today 6* above our average.
Kettlebell day! Then shower, shave and nap probably.

So sorry to hear of everyone’s health conditions. My sis has been on heart meds for over 45 years. She’s a reader and not very physically active. I have been physically active all my life likely due to ADD issues. I couldn’t sit in front of a CAD system for more than a half hour. Then up and doing something else for a few minutes.

Best of luck to everyone. New science is coming out every day it seems. Just keeping doctors up to date seems another issue.

Enjoy every minute of life because you never know when it will be your last no matter what your age is. My highschool friends are passing almost weekly these days.
