My calcium score was 355 :anonymous:
I’m told that I am moderately clogged up . I inject myself with Repatha twice a month and cholesterol numbers dropped from over 200 to about 177 . It’s the LDL that will get ya . It’s hard to lower that one for me .Hereditary

    Thanks for the info, all!
    My cholesterol numbers are
    Overall 173
    HDL 43
    Triglycerides 116
    LDL 108 should be < 100
My weight is 180, yes, could lose 10lbs.
    My height is 5'10'
The calcium CT scan will show what is hidden by these numbers. I would recommend it. My insurance didnt cover it, but was only $99

My LDL is around the same as yours because of the medication I take. The numbers used to be around 160 for LDL . I take a lot of good fish oil a 81mg aspirin everyday . I also do a lot of walking .

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/scanners. I had a calcium scan done a few years ago, can't remember the exact numbers but "average" is what sticks in my mind. I've been on a low dose of statins for a good many years, both sides of the family having given me the wrong genes. My "good" cholesterol number is really good, and my grandmother on mom's side had high cholesterol -- which she found out about when she was 95! So I don't stress out about it. I do have several family members who were on high doses of statins and it did not go well, so I have a predisposition towards keeping the dose low. In fact I was cutting the smallest pill they make in half for a while, but now I take the whole thing.

What I have been stressing out about is getting the dry sump system for the Caterham finalized. Ugh, what a thing. First I had to find components that would fit, then where exactly to put them, but ooopsie, there is going to be something in the way if I put this thing there, so back to square one -- lather rinse repeat. Then when I figured I had the stuff in the place I wanted it, I started working out where the plumbing would go, and holy cow that hose is that big?!? Yep! Back to the drawing board. It finally all worked out, I hope, when I found a catch can small enough that I can put it in a completely different place, which will free up the space I need for the rest of the bits. @Tacoma Mike maybe you can feel my pain!

This weekend I'm heading north to spend a day or so with my granddaughter at college; it's "Family Weekend" with all sorts of activities planned. I'm really looking forward to it, even though I may well be the oldest "parent" there. :)

I don't really miss those old wall phones; I think folks forget how bad the sound quality could be on the old POTS lines, and my old deaf ears need all the help they can get. Plus the cord was either too short, or if it was a longer one it was hopelessly tangled on itself!

Before my cardiac ablations I was told that my arteries are clean and I had no plaques at the time.

I've had tests that raised eyebrows and on retesting the tests showed good numbers. One time my triglycerides was over 1400 and that caused a lot of excitement. But I'd had a nice steak the night before and I think it affected my numbers because on retesting the numbers were normal. My parents were both medicated for high blood pressure and had high cholesterol numbers and I found ways to lower mine without meds.

I don't trust doctors much. I mean... I know they are more educated than I am in their "field of expertise" but I also think they are indoctrinated into thinking they are the only game in town when they aren't. And their over confidence leads them to come to a conclusion quickly before they think and even if they get new information they have a difficult time adjusting their perceptions.

I agree about doctors as far as reaching conclusions quickly. I have been a walker for many of my years, and until I started rebuilding that mobile home and doing all of the work on the land etc...I had a gym membership and walked nearly every day. So, I will listen to what the cardio doc has to say, but I think if I moderate my diet, cut the carbs/sugars, I can do without meds.
BTW..my BP is usualy decent. My last one was 120/66...normally it is about 130/75-ish. Resting heart rate around 65 BPM.

We saw our doc a few weeks ago and my wife's blood pressure was higher than normal and concerning. They mentioned "white coat syndrome" which is when someone is overly concerned about seeing their doctor and their blood pressure goes up in the office. So we took our blood pressures (both arms) at home when we got home and hers was high normal. And the next day lower, and the next day lower. I think blood pressure varies a lot and it's normal. One of our visits about a year ago they asked me to stand up to get my blood pressure because it was so low. Personally... I sometimes wonder if high blood pressure is often related to being worried about having high blood pressure. A self fulfilling prophesy? Meditation for a couple of minutes will lower it.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Never found my switches - put them someplace safe. So, I ordered a couple from Amazon so that everything will appear. At least what I ordered is outdoor IP65 rated, which the ones I have are not, so there's that. Minimum putz and therapy today. Oh, I got one of those between the knee sleeping pillows, and I could not believe that I kept it in place all night - AND - my knees don't hurt this morning!

Agreed! I once went to. Dr and they brought me in as soon as I walked in the door after walking 3 flights of stairs. They checked my blood pressure while I was still catching my breath…LOL! Dr. wanted to put me on BP meds. They STILL try to push BP meds when I have 128 or so over 70.
    Unreal! o_O

Hey, I have a QUESTION for the forum.

My wife has a little table with a bunch of decorative painting on it and she wants to use it on the front porch. It's somewhat protected under an awning, but it will get winter sun and some moisture and she wants to put some kind of finish over the existing paint so it will survive well.

My first thought was varnish like they use on boats but I've seen that cloud and crack and flake off on boats. I've never used Varathane and don't know about it at all for this kind of use.

So are there other options? What would you folks be considering?

    Cute kitty Tom.

When I saw my sleep doc a couple of weeks ago, he said he always takes the bp on his patients, since he doesn't trust anyone else.... girl that did mine said 142/82 and I had been sitting, so shouldn't have been up. He took it and it was 112/72 and I had been walking circles waiting for him. He said some let the air out too fast so can't hear what they should.

Hope everyone is making it a good afternoon.
