Does anyone use this voice functionality for anything? I cant seem to get it to do a single thing. When i ask it to open the garage door, it says it cant understand me or it navigates me to the nearest parking garage. When i ask it to play the radio, it says it cant do it in android auto. When I ask it to open spotify, it doesnt understand.

Is it just me or do the voice commands not work?

So far , mine has done erthing I’ve asked it to do. Might have to do with the way you’re pronouncing your commands.

My god. Even when it works it sucks. Yeah, I can use my voice to set the temp to 68F. But in the 15 seconds it takes for this to happen, I could just turn the knob 3 inches away.

This is the computer version of those stupid piston seats -- the engineering time and money wasted on shit like this.

This seems to be like the voice command system in my 11 year old Subaru. That is to say, dumb as a stump and truly awful. At least it's not mandatory on these. You have to use the voice command system to pair bluetooth devices on my Subaru. Last time I did it, I had to sit in the driveway for the better part of 20min with the instruction manual in my lap.

Honestly, one wonders why they include this crap at all. Do people actually use it? Like, why would I want to yell at the ceiling to set the temperature when I could just reach down and turn the dial that's right there? I myself might use voice commands to make a telephone call or ask it to play a certain song, but the guy even said that it doesn't use the onboard voice command system for that when you've got a phone connected; it uses your phone's voice command system!

It never ceases to amaze me how automakers consistently and unfailingly cock up software development and human factors engineering in regards to infotainment systems. It's almost like they have no idea that there's people out there who specialize in software and HFI who you can hire and everything!

I would not even use it. Seems like more work then doing it yourself.

You have Android Auto, use "OK Google" instead.

I've had this exact type of exchange with Siri in my car. It was in a parking garage. I realized the sunroof was open and I thought someone might call the cops so I hid on another level.
