Side by sides are awesome! It's the drivers that suck. ;)

However, there are always exceptions. I've chatted with some really nice people on Razr's and Can-Ams. And, a group of UTV drivers bitched about us being on "their trails" on Facebook a few years ago, despite the fact that we were perfectly legal.

Every group will have good and bad eggs.

I really don't seem to see as many skunks as I used to. I'm not sure if that's just my perception, or if there's something to it. I have actually seen a few over the last week or two, which actually surprised me.

Hey Adam, curious what charger/maintainer do you have for your LiFePO4 batteries? Was looking at all of the expensive units on Scamazon with unheard of brand names and just purchased the NOCO GENIUSPRO25 for my 200AH LiFePO4. Have not used it yet but holy cow $$$ even with a 20% off coupon.

Been an exceptional year for skunks up here... I cannot remember a year where I have seen so many. I attribute it to the mild winter...

I have a Redarc BCDC1240D permanently mounted in the engine bay. 40 amps, charges off alternator (and solar once I get my panel installed).

    Both are good brands.

Ah, I see. Have a 30A DC-DC Victron Orion-Tr Smart Charger under the Taco hood, 400W of solar on the roof of the camper and an internal converter in the load center for AC plug-in charging. That was not enough. For winter storage there is a kill switch in the camper and the battery then has to be connected to a maintainer according to instructions from the camper manufacturer. NOCO looked like the best option to me.

There's been 2 close (12" or less) encounters with skunks in my life.

The 1st was walking out of work, it came from underneath a bench.
I skuffled my foot on the ground moving it towards it while clinching my teeth and saying, "Get outta here you mo$&÷×f÷#r".

The 2nd was a buddy's house in the country. The lazy $<%&= would set his garbage out his back door.
I went to leave one night and almost stepped on a skunk.
I went back in the house yelling. That "f%&"ng skunk is back.
He grabbed a 30/30 opened the window and missed. I grabbed a .22 and we waited a bit.
The stupid skunk came back after just getting shot at.....my buddy didn't miss the 2nd time. He waited until it got too close. The skunk sprayed and it was the most aweful smell for over a week.
Smelling a skunk going down the road, is one thing....up close and personal is an entirely different smell.
This was all at about 2 am.
    Life in Lincoln County.

Is a battery maintainer also known as a trickle charger?
If so, I keep my lawnmower battery on one in the winter.

Have a friend in Idaho with a dog that will not stop chasing skunks, been sprayed several times and then comes home to mom. She uses a concoction of tomato juice, New Dawn dish detergent and not sure what else to kill the smell. She swears by it.

My dogs love those black and white stinkers. Dawn dish soap, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda works great!

Oh OK yeah you've already got all the fun charging stuff then. Yeah get a NOCO for a trickle charger during winter and you will be all set. The NOCO units are nice because most of the newer ones come with a detachable lead you can mount on the battery terminals to quick disconnect the charger and go. If you get a NOCO booster/jumpstarter pack it uses the same hardwired lead so it's multipurpose.

Seconded. Also works well when the doggo decides that rolling around in rotting fish in the beach is a good idea.

Maybe my dogs know better. I've lived in the country for 19 years. None of them have ever been sprayed. Though 2 of the three we had when we moved to the country discovered cow shit. That was always fun.

Racoons are different story. Tanner will get 'em by the scruff of the neck and shake them silly. He won't kill them, but they will die where they lay. I've had to finish off about a dozen. Learned a long time ago not to be outside with the dog and not have a .22 near by.
