Newer member here. Got my 2015 DCSB 4WD a few months ago. On Monday, I put the truck in 4WD high for a short moment, then switched back to 2WD. Ever since doing so, my truck has been feeling strange when moving. The best way I can describe it is like there is friction at even the lowest of speeds. It almost feels similar to when a vehicle is stuck in a higher gear after decelerating, or gear hunting. I'm not saying that's what it is because I genuinely don't know. It's super off-putting and doesn't feel right. There is a noticeable, but slight, vibration coming through the accelerator and steering wheel now that wasn't present before.

I am terrified I messed something up. I have switched back into 4WD several times since, hoping that would resolve the issue, and it has not. The truck was running perfectly fine before this.

Apologies if this has been addressed before. I searched and couldn't find it, but I could have been using the wrong words to describe my situation.

    Thanks so much in advance.

    You didn’t mess anything up.
In theory, if things work as designed, if the 4WD light is Off. It is out of 4WD.
If you want to be sure, crawl under the truck and try to turn the front drive shaft.
It should spin freely when not in 4WD.
Then jack up ONE front wheel. Leave the other on the ground.
Try and turn the front wheel. It too, should spin freely.

You can do the same for the other side. Just to see if you have anything binding.

Also, the CV axles will turn when you spin the front wheel. This is normal.

What do you think could be causing the vibration/friction?

    CV axle, needle bearing, driveshaft…..

Does the vibration go away if you switch to 4WD?
The needle bearing in the front differential is know to cause a vibration when it goes bad.
But it’s not a common failure on trucks that are not lifted.
    Is your truck lifted?

It’s not say the bearing can’t fail. Mine did.
And my truck is not lifted.
I’m just one of the luck few that had it happen.

Truck has a 2.5" level. Looking up the needle bearing issue right now to see if it matches description of issues I am having.

Why, unless your are Norwegian and would rather worry than figure things out...?

TN told you exactly where to start. I'd suggest you do as he suggested.
