For what it's worth, all the stuff I know now about 12V DC electro-pixies I didn't know before I set to task at building my 12V battery setup in the Tacoma. Many hours on Google and YouTube later and now I know enough to be dangerous. Once you know the basics it's not that difficult and shouldn't be feared. We can always help answer questions if you have them.

That's a good way to put it. Keep It Simple, Stupid definitely applies to wiring as well. It can get complicated once you start doing tricky/cool things but it often doesn't need to except if you're getting fancy with it.

Too funny, I had my head in some panels on the press today.
    Clutch button was being finicky.

Looked at my 2nd pressman and asked him, how he'd like to be the one to wire that!!

(I don't understand it but I can track things back and look for bad contacts, boards or relays, etc)

That is what I have used for the last several years. Even in big wind or 10 below the stinker gets the job done.

Got my uniballs changed after work today. Relatively easy job that had big results-wow I had let them go too long. Truck is sitting higher and no rattlyklunk sheet or wandering (although that was minimal.) Had so much play that the tires were rubbing and I just thought it was normal. Unfortunately, I found that the other side boot let go this week. WTF! At least I know they are good for 100k or so. Guess I have another day under the truck ahead of me...

Question for the group. About to change fluids and would like to know if anyone is running a lubricant other than Toyota SAE LF 75W in their transfer case?

Have Amsoil 75-90 in the other gear boxes but have read that nothing but Toyota lube must be used in the t-case. Is 75-90 what you are running?

The 3rd gens call out straight 75W. The transfer case internals are the exact same as the 2nd gen. Most likely the 3rd gen uses a lighter oil to help hit the EPA MPG bs.

This was my guess, but won't say unless I know... safer that way.
