Recently had a Total Chaos long travel setup installed, +2 expedition. Kit was installed by Alcan Springs in Grand Junction Colorado. A week later on my trip, I noticed some noise when turning left. I messaged TC and was referred to a shop in Calgary and the bad news started.

So far to my understanding, because the limit straps on the LCAs were set too low, the cv axles were binding and one pulled out of the lower joint. Extended cv axles are damaged and needing replacement and this shattered the bearings inside the diff. Diff needed a full rebuild including new gears and lockers.

I'm feeling good about the expertise level of the shop it's at now, just wanted to see if anyone had any other input that may help avoid another catastrophic event.

    Yes
It is a pretty simple cause / effect issue. If your suspension will compress or droop past the maximum articulation of your CV it will happen. Exactly why setting limit straps correctly is so important and it is also important to understand that limit straps will stretch considerably so you must keep any eye on them. A lot of people will set the limit straps a full inch before CV bind so when the strap stretches 1/2” there is still a margin of safety.

    Yep, that sucks OP.

I broke several CV's over the years by allowing them to over flex, bind, or pull out of the inner joint.

To bet installed: bling grill, headlights, fog lights.
Egads. What a terrible experience. Did the installing shop offer to make it right?
