My 3 year/36k mile basic warranty is expiring soon. 15k miles on the clock but will hit the 3 year mark. Any advice on what I should check, look for, listen for, etc. so I can address with the dealer before clocks runs out?

    Thanks in advance!

Anything from bumper to bumper that could be considered a defect in materials or workmanship from the factory, except for things like normal wear parts (tires) or damage caused by accident or failing to do normal maintenance.

Poke your head around and look for anything wet.

Not what you can check, but get an extended warranty, IMO
You can get a extended warranty up until you go over the 3yr/36K miles.
if you think you might want to check around on this forum for the info on Jerry that sells them
    Again just my opinion.

Also i had the 8yr 75K warranty on my 2016 and 2 months before it expired i had to replace the famous "coolant crossover pipe"
warranty covered it, a $1600. job.

PS, at least check that. crawl under behind front tire passenger side. shine a light up behind the block and look for pink corrosion.

Start with checking on Timing cover leak Coolant bypass leak. They are pretty simple, would take couple minutes to do both.

Check power steering fluid level and power steering rack boots for any wetness. Just caught my power steering rack leaking at 30k miles.

Is that covered by the powertrain 5/60?

The Toyota plans say that they exclude “heating hoses, lines, and tubes”. Would that exclude the cross-over pipe?

That is not covered. I knew that first hand when mine leaked at 40k.

That’s my concern. It’s clearly a pipe but the parts schematic calls it a “water by-passenger hose”.

Hoses are flexible and pipes are not.

    Those bastards! :D

On the other hand, the platinum brochure says that it covers seals and gaskets in the cooling system. It’s that what leaks?

I would flush the power steering system if you haven't yet. Only takes about 3 quarts. The reservoir is so small the fluid overheats too easy and degrades really fast causing wear to the system.

Buy the extended warranty before 36k if you're worried about future issues.

It's a manifold connecting multiple coolant ports and a temp sensor boss. A pipe has two ends.

    MOST DEFINITELY THIS ^^^^^^
The extended warranty is piece of mind...it just takes 1 thing to go wrong with your truck (Crossover pipe, transmission etc. ) and having to take it to a dealership and you'll be glad you have it.
