Recently picked up a 2012 Taco with a 6spd manual. Every time I pull up the emergency brake the idle drops immediately to about 500 rpm and near stalls the truck, but only for a brief second. It’s only when I engage the hand E-brake? I searched and noticed someone had something similar, but only when they disengaged the E-brake. Mine is when I engage it.

    Any suggestions? Thank you!

Any ideas? If I pull the E brake out slowly the engine cuts off.

I can't see the Ebrake affecting anything with the engine unless the linkage is rubbing on some wiring somewhere and shorting it.

Just for grins try unplugging the Ebrake switch and see if it still happens.

Thank you. I will give it a try. I’m stumped, I can’t see anything that would cause the engine cutting off with the E brake either.

I’m guessing some kind of resistance was occurring. I moved some wires around and it seems to be working correctly now. I installed a Banks Pedal Monster last week and I’m guessing something was too close/binding.

    Thanks!

You can remove the pedal monster as well. It’s snake oil for any real improvements in power or mileage. The only reason to keep any type of pedal commander is to add an eco mode to dampen drivers erratic right foot so it’s not so jerky.

I agree, It doesn’t give any power or mileage benefits. I like it on manuals for dialing in smoothness on the throttle. Just a preference on feel that’s all. I think it does a really good job with that on mine. I understand the reality, it’s not a power mod. Which is not why I got it. Thanks!
