My friend pointed this out to me yesterday. This is from the drivers side on a 97 SR5 MT. I’ve circled the “missing” bolt in red.
The truck is still new to me and I’m working on replacing things systematically, but the last thing I expected was a missing transmission bolt. Any help would be appreciated!IMG_2665.jpg

Bump, hoping someone can chime in. I looked at a few diagrams and honestly can’t tell if there’s supposed to be something here or not.

Is the bolt going in from the other side?
Maybe you are seeing the back side?

Entirely possible, I didn’t think to try and look from the front. Although I was able to see a decent number of threads from the back.
I’ll get up under it tomorrow and see if I can feel anything on the other side. Thanks for the idea!

Bell housing bolts are M12 aka 1/2” holes. That could be an inspection cover bolt hole which is like an M6 or M8 - M12 bell housing bolts bolt into the engine block from the rear of the vehicle through the holes in the bell housing and inspection plate bolts go in through the front of the vehicle.

Ah, interesting. That would track with what TnShooter suggested. Thank you as well for the input.
