    Hello!
    Background info:

just bought a 2018 TRD OR. Non-JBL system with the 7”? (Bigger nicer touch screen)

Since the day I got it, every time I turn the radio on, regardless of source, there is a constant white noise coming through all speakers. It is driving me crazy.

if I turn the radio off, the sound goes away.

I just installed the kicker/subaru tweeters and the white noise is still present. (I wasn’t expecting them to fix the white noise, I just wanted better clarity.)

any suggestions? Bad head unit ground?

My 2017 has it ever since installing the kicker key 200.4/ key 500.1. Also have oem non jbl head unit with nav, focal rse-165, rcx-165 and JL Stealthbox.

Usually with aftermarket amps it's associated with power/ground signal interference, but I've read all the kicker keys have it. No idea with your situation since all you've swapped is the dash tweeters and you had the noise before too.

Yeah it would be strange to have noise in the system if everything is stock, aside from a defective head unit.

Just pulled the head unit out and found this glorious mess. Definitely doesn’t look stock and I have no clue what any of these wires are tapped in to. Lovely

Appears the previous owner had an aftermarket radio and tapped/butt spliced the wires for install. A plug n play harness would have been much easier.

You could start by tracing the wires to see if anything is loose.

No, all the Kicker Key amps don’t have it. I have a Kicker Key amp in my Tacoma and I have no white noise whatsoever.

Typically depends on where you have the gain set. Some people are fine trading the noise for more overall volume.

Look under the seats, and behind the back seats against the back wall

Well, lucky you. Mine hisses no matter where the gain is set. Pretty sure my Focals contribute to the problem as the tweeters are very bright. :rockband:

Well, well, well, look at what we have here… traced the wires underneath the steering wheel and found the Kicker Key Amp. Turned down the gain all the way and was able to minimize the white noise but it’s still there. Really contemplating taking it back to the dealership where I bought it from and making them remove it. I’ll have to sleep on it.

That looks more like the alpine power pack. Not my favorite of the smaller amps

I only get white noise "hiss" from my back speakers with the Kicker Key amp. But that's probably because I don't have much gain for the front speakers, but added enough gain to the back ones to "round-out" the sound a bit. My back speakers' volume isn't as high as the front, but still needed more gain so I can at least hear them some.

don't bother. they're going to tell you it was a used truck, and they can't be responsible for any aftermarket alterations the last owner made.

Only logical choice now is to upgrade the entire system. :rockband:
