    The Lightning isn’t a hybrid so…

What’s weird is when I tow with my gas, diesel or electric truck my range is always cut in half. It’s like it requires more energy to drag something else behind you regardless of where you get that energy. Physics is wild.

Regardless, that has no bearing at all on a discussion of the Tacoma or Tundra hybrids as they exist solely to be a power/torque boost.

I was pretty set on a hybrid Tacoma, until they kept getting delayed. Then I saw the hybrid lost ~400lbs of rated towing capacity, and when they finally announced the rest of the specs back in mid April, I was disappointed that the only way to get a hybrid double cab with the 6' bed was a TrailHunter, and I didn't need that. Plus it appeared the hybrid was a decently expensive upgrade. So I got a non-hybrid.

If and when Toyota decides to offer a SR5 or maybe TRD Sport CCLB hybrid with the 6' bed, I may be tempted to trade up, but I'm not sure. I use the storage under the rear seat daily, and that is lost with the hybrid to accommodate the battery, and I do tow, so that extra 400lbs doesn't sound like a lot, but I'd rather have that rated capacity than not. However, in day to day driving experiences, I am jealous of the discussions about the hybrid being extra quick and torquey. That sounds pretty nice, but not sure if its worth the $$ yet. Definitely not buying the hybrid to save fuel in this case - just more torque essentially.
