Last Friday, my Tacoma was totaled when another car pulled into my lane and I had to swerve to my right to avoid her. I tried getting off the right shoulder, but the truck took a hard extreme left, flipped, and hit a pine tree. The cab frame strength and airbags saved me from serious injury. The truck was flipping end over end, then rolled into pine trees on the left side of the highway in the opposite direction. Please remember to be safe, as things can go wrong quickly.

I was very fortunate to come away with contusions and a couple broken ribs. Keep replaying everything in my mind to see what I could have done differently.

Stop replaying and count your blessings. Somewhere in that flip your brain stopped recording and hid in the closet so your memory will probably be a little faulty.

    Glad you are safe.

Just be happy you will never have to worry about that plastic crossover coolant pipe connector. On the lighter side.

On the Thank-God, Grateful side, welcome back to Earth to see another day. I am glad you are able to post about it and have your body mostly intact.

You did what you could to avoid a wreck, I agree with all comments so far, and @RichochetRabbit :hattip:

Interesting note, I've decided to travel mostly in the rightmost lane on the highway, for safety reasons, but this story highlights a fact that even I am aware of, being in that right lane, going at the speed limit-or less, is no guarantee the same bozo:jpow: going after you couldn't do the same to me. So, keep your eyes open guys and gals!! I have a feeling we will see more of this stuff, and we will need to be more diligent of all cars around us to avoid getting hit with the shrapnel.

    1. Glad you're OK. Humans are the weak link nowadays in accidents.
    2. I've quit swerving, if you hit me due to your texting/yapping induced coma, I want you to get damage also because you'll most likely drive away without noticing the accident you caused or you saw it but since your vehicle wasn't ''involved,'' you won't feel any need to stop and claim fault.

Sucks to feel that way but usually, the damage is way less then if you hit something stationary, especially a tree.

Material things can be replaced. Glad you're alive! Hope you have a prompt recovery.

I know what it is like. I hit a deer in mine and the insurance company totaled the truck. My damage was nothing like yours. Mine was just the front bumper, fender, hood. I can see why yours was totaled. I was kind of surprised mine was totaled. My radiator was barely touched, no leaks.

Dang! I'm so sorry for both you and your truck, but as others have already said, the Taco can be replaced. Glad you're okay and I pray you have a rapid recovery.

FOOK! That was a hellava wreck!
Glad to hear you survived and even better it sounds like you are not all broken to pieces.
Keep an eye on things, hopefully nothing pops up,, but don't hesitate for one second to seek medical attention if you think something isn't right. (no I am not suggesting suing, before some balloon-head misreads that)

You might need a sit-down with a counselor for a session or two if you find your emotions a bit off. I cannot imagine how I would feel after rolling my truck.

You are on tough mfker, and glad you are ok. Dont think too much about what could you have done differently, if not you, might have been someone else who wasn't as lucky as you.

Of course it was " her " and was she blonde too?

Center console divider thingy, rubber bed mat and side steps for the wife.
Your truck gave its life to save yours, she deserves at least one more hug before you both part ways.

My guess is you successfully pulled off to the right. Next your left front wheel caught a higher uneven edge of pavement on the shoulder of the road and whipped your steering wheel to the left. It will make you shoot across the road. Every day we wake up is a good day.

Jeeze, glad you didn't get hit by opposing traffic! That in itself is a blessing.
