Finished this installation on my 2011 today, going with the passenger side connection based on the advice in this thread. Very helpful and definitely the way to go...thanks to everyone who added with their posts!

Going to install my PL 8521 to my 2013 DC SR5 soon from Amazon. Reading the posts sounds reassuring but not for the faint of heart. No questions yet.

re: 2006 Tacoma TRD Sport Access Cab.

    For what it's worth.....

The picture below shows the little bundle of wires behind my passenger side kick panel.

I spliced and connected in the cab as follows.

Blue / Red (truck harness) to Green (Pop n' Lock)
Blue / Black (truck harness) to Blue (Pop n' Lock)

This opens the tailgate mechanism with two clicks of the unlock button on the fob along with the passenger door and locks Pop n' Lock and both doors with one click of the lock button.

Pop n' Lock does not actuate on one click of the unlock button when drivers door opens.20161029_113102.jpg

Just did the Pl 8521 on my 2012 DC TRD Sport. Wenter like a charm thanks to this thread. I also added a block to prevent the "reefing on the handle" problem and a failsafe for if it ever stops working also I leave my keys at my work bench a lot and go out to the truck so I will still be able to get in if I had to.

I just did it, if you install it on the drivers side wires, it's 1 click, if you do passenger wires it's 2 click. you're wiring is correct blue/red and blue/black

Yes I did this. Took about 10 min. When you are done, insert your truck key and turn till it stops and pull your key out. One thing I had to get used to is to lock or unlock just turn the key about 1/4 inch. very little effort. I want to do this lock actuator fix next.

I did mine about 2 years ago and just recently, you can hear it trying to lock but not sure if the actuator is crapping out.

I haven't had the time to take the tailgate apart to check it out. Has anyone else experienced this?
