So there I am, elbow-deep in an oil change, when I spot a shiny 3/8” bolt happily embedded in one of my tires. Classic. Now I’m on a quest for a couple of 285/70R17 Ridge Grapplers.

Les Schwab and the usual suspects are all “special order only” and want over $1k for just two tires. Tire Rack’s an option, but I’d rather snag something local so I can get back on the road faster. I’m cool with Les Schwab’s customer service and warranty, but if anyone knows a better deal, I’m all ears!

I’ve got two Ridge Grapplers on the truck with plenty of tread left, so I’m just looking to swap out the pair with the unwanted bolt bling. I was planning on replacing these soon anyway, so it’s not a total bummer—just didn’t expect to be tire shopping right now. I’ve got a trip this weekend and would really prefer to have the truck rolling by then.

If you’ve got any leads on where I can find these tires around Tacoma or Seattle, let me know. Extra kudos if I don’t have to part with any vital organs in the process.

    Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure if you’re saying you’re only looking for a used tire but I order my tires from Simple Tire and they will ship them to your house. They usually arrive within a couple days of ordering.

I think I’ve ordered 4 sets of tires from them; the longest it ever took was 3 days from me clicking “order” to the tires being in my driveway.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I just popped a self tapper screw out of my front right tire. It didn’t go through. Dodged another one.

I was hoping to find a local spot that has them new. I have a trip this weekend I want my truck for. I used SimpleTire for my last order of Ridge Grappler's.

Luckily Les Schwab was able to do a permanent patch on the tire, so I'm good for the weekend. I'm having LS install new RG's next week. It's an arm and a leg compared to SimpleTire, but I like their service/warranty/etc. So I decided to eat the cost.

Last time I used SimpleTire they didn't have a great selection for install locations when I was in Bend, OR. I ended up at a shady install spot. Granted, the tires have been fine, so I don't have a leg to stand on for my reasoning.

Update: I just ran through checkout for SimpleTire and the cost difference was $50 from LS.
